Run for HAPPINESS!
There in the center you can see them heading out. Our little runner in training and my Marathoner Husband. Emilio is so fiercely himself in many ways. Confident in who he is and what he wants. No fear in expressing himself fully and being open and engaged in exactly what pleases him. Like any child his age. And yet it is so evident that we, Matt and I, have very clear influences on him. Not just his behaviors and mannerism. Not just our genetics entwined with his DNA. How he likes to control situations and tell people what to do (me) His passion for sports, data and numbers (Matt) And then there are the pieces he picks up from us. Obvious in some ways, agreeing to root for the team I want to win purely because I am, but more gradual over time in others. Like running. He's been exposed to our habit of running since he was young. More pronounced in the last two years with Matt's back to back Marathon runs. And as he grows, his body develops and he is able to do more he's realized it is something he can enjoy. And we are fully fostering it. Last weekend he went out twice with Matt, running a short loop of blocks around our house. Last night he came in from his run and happily share he'd run over a mile. Quite a feat for a nearly 5 year old. As he trained earlier this Fall for his first 1k he told me he'd run his first 1/2 Marathon at 7. And you know what, he just might.

Midfoot Striking Monsters. That's right, a gorgeous HD video for you today. Reminds us of a Joseph Campbell storyline. A beautiful video and an Angus Young-ish young boy with perfect midfoot strike, along with his monster buddies.
Something a little lighter today for the gait brethren here on The Gait guys. Proof that it doesn't always have to be cerebral here on the Gait Guys. Today just sit back, go full screen HD on this one, and turn it up loud !
This kid should give form running clinics. Its simply a beautiful running form.
Shawn and Ivo.

We're doing running a little differently through April. The kids need to run 25 miles at school before the big Go! St. Louis kids run. To rack up the proper miles, the kids run carrying small cards where they get hole punches for each lap. Five hole punches mean one mile. Even Jordan is joining in on the challenge.
