Have a killer Mother’s Day!
My daughter has a book “Every Night is Pizza Night” by J. Kenji López-Alt. It’s about trying new foods and the main character Pipo goes on a quest to discover new foods in the community despite being convinced (after multiple scientific studies) that pizza is THE BEST.
As Pipo tries new foods she says “I do not want it. I do not need it. But I will try it. For science.”
And honestly, that phrase has stuck in our family lexicon. To the point that I just used it to describe having to work with my cousin on a family thing.
“I do not want to. I do not need to. But I will. For science.”
I just wanted to share because kids books are amazing at giving all of us little bits of wisdom to help us get through the day.
Yesterday - kids sick at home. I got to escape for a 2.5 mile birding walk. First of the season. Didn’t see much except for a few blackbirds, crows, red-tailed hawks, and most notably, a flock of beautiful eastern bluebirds. One of my faves.
Today - terribly sick with the flu or some GI bug. I spent most of my night in the bathroom and the rest of it comforting Holden who already had this GI bug. It’s now turned into an ear infection… and possibly strep? Brendan is taking him to the pediatrician as we speak. Please, whoever is listening, please let Derrick escape this without becoming febrile and let this be the last illness of winter for our household. Please. And thanks.
