Kid 90 dir. Soleil Moon Frye
Thoughts while watching Kid90:
- fyi: it is mainly about Soleil Moon Fry
- Soleil knew EVERYONE
- God I could not imagine having to go through what she went through at that age, all the sexual harassment because of her boobs. I'm glad she was confident enough to get the reduction and was so open about it with the media.
- First time I saw Jonathan Brandis I cried!
-Brian Austin Green was so cute in the 90s (well I mean he's still cute)
- I love how she went around asking everyone their philosophy on life
- I cant imagine all of the phone calls she had make saying like "uhh you remember all stuff I recorded when we were young" to get permission from all of these celebrities!
- I didnt really know who she dated but I was kinda surprised to find out that she dated Danny Boy O'Connor from the band House Of Pain.
- Like I said Soleil knew EVERYONE
- Its very interesting to see the difference of how teens act with a camera back then compared to now.
- I still think that teens back in the 90s were a lot more mature then teens now. They may have done a lot more stupid stuff back then, but they were still more mature.
- They talk a lot about suicide
- Now I'm bawling again, they play a bunch of voicemail recordings of Jonathan Brandis
- just imagine all the recordings she has that they didnt show
- Its not easy facing your past
- I love how strong she is, I think her recording everything and writing journals really helped her
- Soleil Moon Fry lost her virginity to Charlie Sheen (I'm sorry but eww he was in his late 20s, she was only 17)
- Now I wanna watch the movie Kids (1995)
- man more suicide
- the end isnt as exciting as the beginning
-i wish I had friends like that when I was a teen (and even now)
- I also wish I would have kept diaries/journals, but the one time I did my brother read it and I stopped after that
- man she was really deep at such a young age
- watch all the way to the end of the credits
- man 8 friends that committed suicide, that's so sad
- I loved watching this, will definitely watch again. It is such an interesting look into hollywood youth in the 90s
four years since kid90 was released and when i tell you that documentary changed my life i truly mean it. I would not be the person i am today if it weren't for this docu. endless thanks and love to my all time favorite, miss soleil moon frye <3
Kid90 (2021)
The unspoken allure for documentaries as a medium is the promise that you’ll see raw, honest footage from real life that could never be captured in narrative filmmaking. No matter how well a doc is fortified by talking-head interviews, firmly contextualized historical research, or a strong editorial POV, its main selling point to most audiences is going to be the carnival-barker promise of…
