Sleep and Bravery

I remember distinctly, as a child, my mother telling me to go back to my room, "and actually sleep this time," she'd say. She knew when I didn't take my nap, and when I just played instead. I remember her telling me that one day, I'd only wish I could have naps in the middle of the day, and then thinking how absolutely bogus that sounded. "Never." I thought. And I've been telling myself that I will never fall in love, because all it is, is a stupid look on your face and a hand to hold when you're too weak to brave life alone. But now, I find my mother was completely right. I want naps. No one can live without sleep, especially when you're growing so much, and though we eventually stop physically growing, we never stop growing in mind and spirit. Now, I find myself falling into the thought of love. I still don't know if I want it, but I don't want to defy it anymore. I'm finding it's even more brave to brave life with another. No one can live without love, especially when you're growing so much.

I still think it leaves a stupid look on your face, though.
