Michaela’s case has been solved
I am writing this on Saturday, December 19, 2020. In two days the Hayward Police Department, Alameda County District Attorney, and FBI will announce to the world that after 32 years and 32 days, they have identified and charged Michaela’s kidnapper with homicide. They have not found Michaela, but they have identified her kidnapper. He is in prison for murder, and is currently on trial for two…

Today I tried to take a new route to work. I was so disgusted and fed up with the elevated train I decided to walk 10 blocks to the subway. I got two blocks from my house and I ran into the CFO of the company I used to work for who I haven't seen in forever and didn't realize lived right there! We said hi and waved as I got closer.
He looked like he was looking for an Uber, but turned out he was waiting for the cops. There was a woman standing outside his house in the cold in Rags, no shoes, no socks. she looked like she was freezing, and she looked completely traumatized. He said she was lost and he had been waiting 20 minutes for the police to come help. She said she didn't speak English, only Spanish, which he doesn't know. I tried to talk to her in Spanish, and although she understood me she wasn't able to bring herself to respond to my questions of whether she needed help or what she needed. She just kept kind of choking up... He said he was fine so I gave him my phone number and left.
When I got on the train I got a text message from him saying the police came, and the woman said she had been kidnapped in New York and escaped to Philadelphia. I'm so glad he found her and called the police. It's so crazy, if she hadn't been on his property, everybody in the city probably would have ignored her. She looked like she had been standing there all night. The look in her eyes... I really hope they can help her and keep her safe.
And that was how my day started! So much for avoiding Crazy by avoiding the elevated train.
