Few choices had been present to the two boys, now men. After the loss of their parents, Mako had to make rather hard decisions for their future. While initially he had contemplated getting involved with the Triple Threat Triad and running bets for them on the side, that wasn’t a life he wanted for his brother. The second best option presented to him was from the Order of the White Lotus.
After Aang’s death, a new Avatar had been born. However, not found. The Avatar was to be found and to accomplish this goal, they had to enlist help from multiple locations. They could be anywhere after all. The task at hand was by no means a walk in the park. Still, it would provide a sustainable yet relatively safe life for the two of them.
It was all he could do at the current moment to do right by his brother. The White Lotus offered a safer way to protect and survive than the Triple Threats did. Despite getting an offer from both groups, he settled with odd reluctance on the White Lotus.
Years would pass before Mako was ready to travel to search for the Avatar. Most of his early years were spent in Republic City after the tragedy since at the age of eight, he was still too young.
Once of a decent age, Mako set out with a team. Bolin had been enlisted to a different area than his brother, a different team. It’d be good for him although the firebender couldn’t help but worry. He got a fair distance away from Republic City with the group and just outside of Taku. Taking charge, Mako had gone ahead to scout the way and perhaps spend a bit of time away from all the noise.
Quite a ways up, he saw her.
He wouldn’t have been able to tell it was her if not for what she was doing. One element. Then another. And another. It dawned on him, becoming blatantly obvious. Taku was rather secluded considering it was abandoned, a good place to practice and train. Perhaps that was why she had come here? He didn’t know. All that mattered was that he found her. The Avatar.
Now what? Was he supposed to go up there and say ‘ hey, aren’t you the avatar? ‘. Yeah right. That wouldn’t do. Neither would standing here like a complete idiot which is what he was managing. Could she see him from here? Did she notice? He hoped not, he didn’t exactly have much of a plan yet. The plan was to find her but... Then what?
