“Did you hear that?”
he pauses, gaze intent and searching, body coiled tight like a frightened animal ready to sprint off at the next sound. probably not the best idea, to be wandering campus grounds so late at night, but the clear air helped azra think and he liked to just sit in the dark. he didn’t think anyone else would be up. he also didn’t expect to be anxious of small sounds but you can’t blame him-- he lived in the shadows but he never got to meet them.
“i did,” the boy answers slowly, eyes wide as violet irises sweep over the dark courtyard, posture stiff though his expression remains blank.
“what do you...” he starts off quietly, eyes alert, before he changes his train of thought, shaking his head to himself quietly, “it’s probably the wind or something,” he rationalizes. his eyes glance over at the older male, eyes searching as if hoping for agreement.
“right?”
