Inktober 2016 Day 31: “The Thing“ (1982) - When “The Thing” first hit the big screen, it came out against E.T. and was killed at the box office. Audiences at the time were not ready to embrace the extremely bleak, paranoid and desperate story so soon after meeting that heart-warming, Reeses Pieces-loving alien. While it might not have been box office gold then, time certainly has ruled in The Thing’s favor. It is a critically acclaimed horror and FX masterpiece. A young Rob Bottin almost died of exhaustion to bring the titular creature to the big screen with a series of visual effects that still hold firm to this day.
