Magic Experiments

lil writing thing I wanted to do of Kiiaxe :)) VoE spoilers ahead.

The everlasting starlight of the Weald filtered in through the canopy as an asura trudged through it on the back of a Warclaw, its eyes glinting as it prowled through the forest with its rider holding tight, an augmented saurian following after the two, hot on their heels.

The warclaw slid to a stop with a snarl as its claws dug into the ground, slowing itself with the friction, and the Asura climbed off of it, patting it firmly on its side as she whistled.

The warclaw snarled in response as it trudged off, the saurian catching up to the asura, but unlike one would expect, it didn’t turn her into a meal. Instead it stood beside her with a low chitter, its augmented eyes trained on what was in front of the two.

Kiiaxe placed a hand on the muzzled deinonychus’ neck, making a soft chitter noise which seemed to calm the creature down. She let out a sigh as she lifted her head to look forward, eyes narrowed as she approached.

“You called for me.” Kiiaxe uttered, her voice quiet and raspy. “What did you need me for?” She seemed almost expectant at this point to be the test dummy for the Inquest’s experiments, she was raised to be just that, after all. It’s why they gave her Voidstriker, to field test it. It’s what she was taught she was.

The other asura that stood in the center of the Consecrated Plaza turned to Kiiaxe, her eyes narrowed. “Finally.” She uttered, gesturing for Kiiaxe to come closer. “I’ll spare you the meaningless chatter and get on with it.” Kuda turned on her heel, glancing back to Kiiaxe with narrowed eyes as expecting the Ranger to follow.

Kiiaxe followed after her as they walked further into the plaza, cracks in pillars and grounds like fissures that opened up into a starry expanse. “Seer magic.” Kuda explained, as if sensing Kiiaxe’s subdued curiosity. “I want to see how we can harness it. And I’ve got a couple hypothesis on how to do it.”

“What would you have me do?” Kiiaxe asked the Overseer, ear twitching as Kuda continued.

“You’ll be one of the experiments, as usual. I want to see what happens if we inject it directly in your veins. It may work, it may not.. it may kill you. Semantics.” Kuda shrugged off the cautionary warning as if the asura’s life was nothing. Kiiaxe felt a twinge of anxiety hit her at that comment, but knew better than to mention such, suppressing the thoughts as she merely listened.

“I’m ready.” “Good. We start today. We saw the Commander at Shipwreck Strand. It’s only a matter of time before they arrive and likely ruin our work.” Kuda spoke, an annoyed twinge in her voice as she did. “Where’s Creation 10-B?”

“Outside.”

“Well call it over then. I want to see if you’ve made any progress with it.”

Rahh ok i have so many so lemme be really quick and like 1-2 sentences of each

Shieoni: Ex-Inquest who joined @/ratasum's Rhenn's group during the end of voe's current story drop somewhere around them just entering starlit weald, used to date Sebb and now hes in her head as her revenant spirit. (Revenant)

Mixxi: Ex-Assassin who was forced to kill her own wife, they got out of the mists through a rift and now only kills when necessary. Their wife became a wind spirit and is the source of her galeshot magic (Ranger)

Karua Soulseared: Olmakhan charr who killed her own father who was a flame legionnaire, a necromancer but she gives anyone a chance, even flame legion if they're willing to change (Necromancer)

Ammix: Shieoni's mother who ran away because she didnt feel ready to be a mother, ended up joining the Astral Ward somehow (havent decided how yet, she's very underdeveloped) (Ranger)

Kiiaxe: Inquest labrat, often a test subject for experiments, was injected with seer magic to see what it does and now it runs through her veins. She was assigned to train Creation 10-b/Voidstriker to see how it would do in the field. (Ranger)

Creation 10-B: Also known as Voidstriker, a deinonychus that was augmented by the Inquest similar to Creation 5 & 7, it was an experiment to see if they could mix biomancy and dragonvoid into a weapon. Voidstriker is a failed experiment because dragonvoid leaks from its mouth, hence why it needs to be clamped shut when not in use. (Creature)

Vissi: The Eye of Aurene, similar to how in the personal story Zhaitan had scouts known as the Eye of Zhaitan, the Eye of Aurene, or Vissi as she was called by others, is a creation of Aurene with the look of an asura but with draconic features, Aurene can see through Vissi's eyes and she created her so she could keep an eye on the world as she slept, she only has a mere fraction of Aurene's power (Revenant)

Kudalinari: Recently born sylvari, new to the world and not very bright, Glint is like a mother to her in her head (Revenant)

Magic Experiments pt 2

Kiiaxe’s eyes narrowed as she looked to Kuda, but nodded. “It’s still volatile.” The Asura warned, eyes narrowed as she let out a short chitter noise. Kuda’s eyes narrowed as she watched, hands behind her back as she stood tall. “I don’t care.” Kuda replied simply, her eyes narrowed. “If it’s giving results, you keep working with it.”

Kiiaxe glanced to the overseer, wanting to protest as the augmented deinonychus slid to a stop beside her with a sharp hiss, snarling from under its mechanical muzzle. “Yes, Overseer.” The asura frowned as she continued, ears flat as she reached her hand up to pet the feathers on the deinonychus’ neck.

“Field tests with Creation 10-B have been going well.” Kiiaxe began, moving to lead the deinonychus further into the old seer ruins. “Though its mouth tends to leak void that doesn’t seem to stop, everything else seems to be in working order, it can hunt. With or without me- and-“

“Have you killed any of that alliance with it?” Kuda interrupted suddenly, taking a step toward the creature. Kiiaxe seemed supposed at her words, blinking a few times as she let out an awkward chuckle. “With all due respect, Overseer, it’s not ready for that sort of thing. You saw what they did to Sebb and his-“

“Sebb, was a lunatic with no failsafes. He and his raptors only failed because he failed. He was too busy getting excited about killing the commander to realise how utterly incompetent he was.”

Kiiaxe stood there, stunned for a moment as Kuda spoke, her lavender eyes wide as she stayed silent before quietly nodding. “O-Of course, Overseer. I meant no disrespect.” She hesitated as she gestured the deinonychus to move, the creature obediently walking to a wall and lying down with a hiss, the warclaw from before soon joining it. “I’ll try it against one of them when I next come across one.”

Kuda seemed to smirk at that, nodding as she gestured for Kiiaxe to follow, walking back to the drills, she approached a group of inquest with narrowed eyes, gesturing to Kiiaxe “Your test subject.” Kuda introduced, eyes narrowed as she began to walk away. “As we discussed.”

Before Kiiaxe could respond, the overseer was already gone. She took a deep sigh and approached, her eyes fixed on a needle one of the inquest produced, filled with what looked like stars. Kiiaxe hesitated as she approached the leader of the group, holding the needle

“Let’s get this over with.”
