top 3 toxic kaisagi enjoyers in the blue lock ‘verse (and what type of shipper they are!)
disclaimer: this is a joke im obviously not genuinely arguing that these characters are shippers.
here’s top 5 kaisagi shippers in ‘verse (& what type of shipper they are): mildly healthy edition!!
3. yukimiya: toxic yaoi lover hater
yuki ships them in a derogatory, evil soulmates, please quarantine yourselves to each other sort of way, basically:
he looks forward to them looking up at him from hell together forever. 2. noa: yandere isagi & nonchalant kaiser enthusaist
noa absolutely loves when isagi’s toxically obsessed with kaiser and frequently encourages his insanity, it doesn’t matter that it’s just pure murderous intent, he just likes the intensity of emotions bc he’s living vicariously through kaisagi’s homoerotic rivalry.
he loves the drama and the fact that kaiser lives rent free in isagi’s head. did you see that interested side eye when isagi mentioned beating kaiser then his tentative “so…how was the dateeee👀❓”- he was DESPERATE for the details. but he isn’t a mutual obsession fan. he loves chill, ragebaiter kaiser who is above it all (bc it allows for rabid isagi! and bc it reminds him that his situationship w ego is mutual obsession too🤷🏾♀️🥀).
he’s basically a rare, mostly early flavour kiis fan.
1. ness: exclusively ships submissive isagi x dominant sadistic kaiser
ness is a REALLY REAL toxic yaoi fan, all hurt no comfort type beat for him. he’s a true connoisseur of unhealthy dynamics. unlike yuki there’s no mutual enmity or secret soulmatism the way ness ships kaisagi, it’s purely a fight for dominance which isagi must lose! he loves hateful, mean kaiser but doesn’t like “obsessed kaiser” bc he wants kaiser obsessed and mutual with him but like noa he likes an obsessed isagi (the blush??? when he thinks isagi is going to assist????).
on kaiser failing to live up to his ideals and how isagi fulfils them:
tw: mentions of child abuse.
on kaiser and bachira’s parallels
trigger warning for both discussion and depictions of child abuse and discussion of suicidal thoughts.
1.) the blue rose and the monster, images their mother gave them:
bachira’s image of football, his image of his only friend, came from his mother’s paintings. yuu gave him the courage to be by himself, she told him he didn’t need to conform and that gave him the strength to hone in his football skills. her unconditional support gave him a resilient, powerful ego. he both loved and admires her hence using her art as inspiration, taking the same title as her and trusting what she tells him. now kaiser’s connection to his mother isn’t as explicitly stated, but imo it is still really obvious, he takes the only symbol she left and tattoos it permanently on his body (the very first thing he did after leaving his home!) and just like bachira he bases his identity on “the rose”, but he makes it his own by making it a blue rose. what she represents to him is freedom, she left his father and became a star, she is widely loved, she isn’t starving and she’s wanted by everyone. in a weird way, she is his inspiration, someone who left home and thrived. [also, he might have tattooed eyeliner as a little homage to her too.]
2.) alienation from humanity & connection to the ball:
both kaiser and bachira are deeply lonely people, their only friend is non-human and football is their first love, and their solace:
in kaiser’s case he was continually dehumanised and abused by his own father leading him to feel alienated from “wanted humans”, he identifies with the ball he kicks around:
whereas it is bachira’s genius that isolates him from his peers, he discovered football at such a young age and loved it above all. people couldn’t understand his adoration for it and continually bullied him verbally and physically for that loyalty to the sport. bachira felt so lonely that he felt suicidal, day in and day out his only company was his ball:
as mentioned, bachira invents a monster from his mother’s paintings to keep himself company but kaiser sees the ball itself as his friend. he personifies it (i.e. suggests it’s the ball’s choice to remain by his side rather than him bringing the ball everywhere.) what’s interesting is that the ball isn’t just their friend, but representative of themselves too. by choosing football, bachira chose egotistically improving himself over potential friends, by choosing football, kaiser saved himself, he gave himself a reason to keep going and he ended up clawing his way out of his father’s home.
3.) reset to 0:
i’m going to expand and kinda quote what i already said in this post about their awakening parallels but with panels so you can see how similar they are side by side :))))))
both kaiser and bachira’s awakening is sparked by feeling inferior to, and left behind by, players with a greater drive to improve:
this is their worst fears crashing into them again, bachira feels lonely even when he finally found a friend and kaiser is made to feel helpless and weak when he thought he grew past that trauma. because their current ego is indeed lacking, they are fighting to preserve what they have instead of fighting out of greed for more. they chose comfort in the form of love/friendship/not being alone and stagnated because of it. but most egregious is that they end up betraying themselves, since they forgot their true identity (impulse) and resolve:
as mentioned, bachira chose the ball over potential friends, yet his reason for living became his first (human) friend. he developed a dependency on isagi and forgot his own self who wanted to be the best and this doomed him. and, very obviously kaiser also repeatedly picked “comfort” over growth, which took the form of maliciously picking on weaker players to validate his sense of superiority. he chose to use psychology to manipulate someone into being his loyal dog who serves him only instead of learning how to make friends with humans, and repeatedly fails by his own ideals. in other words, he too forgot his own voice and actually became his own abuser (when as a child he’d always act in defiance of his father.)
bachira and kaiser doomed themselves because they forgot their inner selves, they defined themselves through other people (bachira saying he was happy he came to blue lock bc he met isagi and kaiser outright saying ness defined him) and searched for external validation when in blue lock the correct answer always comes from within.
hence to grow, bachira and kaiser must embrace discomfort, they must learn to give up what they’ve ‘earned’ and risk it for the sake of their growth, they must shed all that define them externally [for bachira that is his monster (and isagi) and for kaiser that is his emperor persona (and ness)] and instead focus on their initial impulse:
and this is very clearly a reclaiming of their past, they are embracing their greatest fears to overcome it. now they are “choosing” loneliness. they both go back to zero, they pick independence and growth over comfort as stagnation, they choose to be resilient and face challenges head on. they listen to their inner child, their own voices and they are seeking to surpass their former selves.
bachira and kaiser have the same taste in men
isagi falling in love with football and isagi watching kaiser play for the first time.
never forget that isagi promised-threatened to make kaiser the naked emperor so kaiser decides stroll up naked to his locker room, he really is That Bitch.
a kaiser and bachira parallel:
both kaiser and bachira stagnated due to their desire for comfort (love/friendship/not being alone), they were so worried about losing what they had that they forsaken their drive to grow -> they get left behind by players with a greater drive to improve, for bachira it was rin and isagi whereas for kaiser it was noa and isagi.
in terms of this parallel between ness and the monster, remember that kaiser identified with the ball as his fellow piece of shit, the ball was his reason to live and he dreamed of freedom, food and love with it by his side. for bachira, being at one with the ball was everything to him, but at the same time it isolated him from his peers, who weren’t as football crazy as him. he made up a monster to stave off loneliness & practice plays with, kaiser picked up ness for the same need, he needed someone on his side since football is a team sport. but they become overly reliant on the monster / ness, they both use their ‘friend’ to define themselves and hence end up limit themselves to just that friend, forgetting their initial impulse and stagnating their own growth (kaiser also stagnates ness too!) bc their friend gives them this unconditional support.
bachira’s growth firstly involved embracing loneliness, the same choice he made in his childhood via abandoning the monster. he goes back to zero! he then only matches up to those who surpassed the monster, to then making multiple of his monsters and surpassing them. but he never uses the monster as a crutch for his loneliness again, in fact he is rewarded with friendship by choosing loneliness!!!
kaiser’s growth isn’t yet covered but we do get the same path, he leaves ness to grow and it is necessary since ness only grows independently when kaiser does this, now they are seeking to surpass their former selves.
