✼ Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! : 002 ✼ chapter two ── Kapitel zwei
𝒦aiser-ella stares at the boy in front of him with a look of incredulous astonishment.
"...You were an old man a few seconds ago."
"Yes!"
"And now... you're a boy."
"Yes!"
Kaiser's thoughts trail off as he looks at the beaming boy staring at him.
Retinol? No, there's no way skincare could work that fast. Huh. I should get his skincare routine. Wait a minute, I'm not even staying on topic!
Kaiser-ella sighs, running a hand through his hair, "What do you mean by 'getting me to the ball'?"
Ness grins proudly, gesturing to his wand, "With this, I'll give you an outfit to wear to the ball and a carriage along with it!"
Kaiser replies, shrugging, "...Fine. I suppose it's better than nothing."
Ness takes a step back, pointing his wand at Kaiser. With a flick of his wrist, a wave of his wand and the words, "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!"—
A puff of glittery smoke fills the air, and Kaiser's rags transform into...
A meat dress?
He stares at the pieces of ham making up his "couture". His bracelets and necklaces are made out of meatballs, and the air reeks of deli meats.
"What is this?" Kaiser-ella screeches, filled to the brim with pure rage. "I asked for a suit, not Lady Gaga!"
Ness nervously laughs, rubbing the back of his neck. "Apologies! I was feeling a bit hungry. I'm still new to all this. I promise this time I'll get it right!" Ness prepares his stance once more.
Another flick of his wrist, and Kaiser's meat dress transforms into a gorgeous, sparkling pale silvery blue gown with a floor-length ball skirt, along with long white gloves, a black choker, a silver tiara, and glass slippers.
Pretty. But absolutely not what he was asking for either.
Kaiser looks at his outfit with simmering rage. "Fix this, now!"
Ness panics and tries to change the dress into a suit as he spams the words 'Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo' and points the wand at Kaiser. Nothing happens.
"Oh... dear." Ness quietly says.
Kaiser explodes, "How am I supposed to go to the ball looking like this? I'll be a joke!"
Ness nervously laughs, "Maybe they'll all fall in love with your overwhelming beauty...?"
Kaiser wants to strangle him but chooses not to—deciding to just accept his fate as the pretty boy in the dress. Then again, he's lucky it's beautiful.
The dress.
He means the dress.
Though he is pretty good-looking himself, to be honest.
"Whatever. How am I going to get there?"
Ness picks up a pumpkin from one of the patches on the ground. Then, he grabs two mice by the tail and places them on top of the pumpkin.
Kaiser scowls when he sees Ness holding the flailing mice by their tails. "Be gentle with them."
Ness points his wand at the pumpkin and chittering mice, "Bibbidi... Bobbidi... Boo!"
Smoke fills the area and Kaiser-ella instictinvely flinches, closing his eyes. When Kaiser opens his eyes again, a glittering carriage and 2 beautiful steeds have replaced the pumpkin and mice.
"Wow! I can't believe it worked!" Ness fawns over his work excitedly, as if he expected it to backfire.
Ness turns to Kaiser-ella, smiling even wider than before, "The spell will wear off when the clock strikes midnight. So, you'd better be on your way now."
A small smile spreads over Kaiser's lips as he steps into the carriage, "Thanks, Ness."
"No problem! Now, go on!"
Kaiser gives Ness a small wave, and the horses kick off, galloping towards the ball.
You survey the partymongers from atop your throne with a look of extreme disinterest. Typically, you enjoyed balls. You loved them, even! But it wasn't so fun to attend a ball where everyone there was only attending with the interest of becoming your spouse.
Some of your advisors eye you warily. You had made the daring decision to attend the fall in a tailcoat, rather than a traditional gown.
It wasn't that you hated dresses—you adored them, actually—but you firmly believed there was a specific time and place for wearing them. And this didn't feel like it.
When asked why you didn't want to wear a frilly gown to a ball full of potential suitors, you had stared one of your advisors straight in the eye and complained, "The corset always pokes into my ribs, and I always trip over the layers."
Why? Because you were sitting on your ass for most of the ball. And if you're going to laze around like a bum, passing it off as regal and whatnot, then it's much better to wear something comfortable.
Despite this, you were pretty pleased with your appearance. You wore a navy-colored, double-breasted coat with intricate gold embroidery on the lapels—that shone under the chandeliers, pristine cuffs, white breeches tucked into knee-high black leather riding boots, a milky cravat, and large silver rings littering your fingers.
You felt pleased to find that these clothes were much more comfortable than a corset. Whenever you were away from the prodding eyes of the wealthy royals and nobles, you'd nod at your appearance in the mirror.
Your thoughts were interrupted as the large doors of the palace opened to reveal a boy. You stood up straight, intrigued.
He had blonde hair with blue-tipped ends, which was tied up into a tiny top knot that looked unfairly good on him. His chest heaved as he walked into the ballroom, as if he'd been in a hurry.
You also notice that he was in a dress. The dress—the fabric of which appeared to be lace, giving it a romantic and ornate look—seemed to add to his natural charm.
He looks better in a dress than me, you thought, and I'm supposed to be the princess.
Meanwhile, Kaiser-ella was desperately ignoring the curious stares from the other attendees. He felt Isagi's gaze burning through his back and turned only to find the bastard suppressing full-bodied cackles, a glass of champagne fisted in his hand as his face turned red with the sheer effort of trying to keep his cool.
However, Bachira and Ego looked clueless—they couldn't recognize him.
He rolled his eyes, trying to convince himself that he didn't care if he was in a dress as long as he could snag a look at the crown princess—
The same crown princess who was currently making her way to him, ignoring the rest of the attendees.
You lean in, hands in your slacks' pockets as you examine him with a smile. "You're quite a bold young man, aren't you? I admire that." You give him a regal bow, then extend a hand. "Sir, may I have this dance?"
He blinks in surprise and takes your hand. You position one of your hands on his waist, and your other hand holds his other hand. You both waltz in the ballroom underneath the starry night, and Kaiser feels his heartbeat quicken.
Huh. So this is love?
You give him a charming smile, and his pulse does a traitorous thing. When you finish, you take his hand and lead him to the palace garden—away from prodding eyes.
"I must say, that's a daring outfit." You remark, grinning cheekily.
Kaiser-ella rolls his eyes, dusting off his dress, "It was a gift from a... friend." Could you really consider a cheery wizard that spawned in your garden as a friend? Meh.
You let out a soft chuckle, "It's gorgeous. That's a pretty color on you."
He rolls his eyes and huffs, crossing his arms, "Enough about me. What about you?"
"Me?"
"You're the crown princess, right? How does it feel?"
You let out a low hum, contemplative as you twist one of the large stones on your finger, "I adore everyone in the kingdom. But it can be quite suffocating." You clasp your hands together. "I'm quite fond of balls, actually. Even if I don't look like it. I especially love the whimsy in the air. People frolick and dance without a care, and just for one night, I don't feel like there are any labels like 'crown princess' or 'peasant'. It just feels like a gathering of people having fun. Call it foolish or sappy, but I adore it."
He nods, clearly listening. You sit down on the edge of a fountain; Kaiser sits beside you. You whisper, pointing to the moon, "Isn't it pretty?" Kaiser-ella's gaze is on you, and a faint smile forms on his lips. "I've seen prettier."
You turn to him and your breaths mingle in the air. For a second, it seems as if you might kiss him. Your cheeks rosen and you clear your throat, looking away. "That reminds me, I forgot to ask for your name. What shall I call—"
Kaiser-ella looks at the large clock in the distance and panics. It's 11:59, one minute till midnight. He stands up abruptly, slowly backing away, "I apologize—but I have somewhere I need to go." He turns around, sprints away, and you stare at him in confusion for a mere second before standing up.
"Wait, what do you mean? I didn't even get your name!" You call back.
Kaiser pushes all thoughts of pretty princesses in suits as he runs out of the ballroom and onto the stairs. But he ends up leaving one of his glass slippers on the stairs.
He angrily mutters under his breath, wincing as his bare foot hits the gravel, "How splendid."
He decides not to pay it any mind, especially when he has less than 30 seconds to run away before he goes back to his rags and looks like a commoner again.
He's already in the forest when the clock strikes midnight, and his gown dissipates into sparkles, replaced by his simple, ragged servant clothes.
He doesn't stop running until he's in the safety of his room. His limbs feel like lead from the sheer distance he just ran, as he slumps onto his bed, pulling the sheets over his body with the last ounce of strength he has left.
He buries his face into his pillow with a groan. He'd have to go back to the forgettable servant he was before the ball. He turns around, staring at the ceiling with a sigh.
As he nods off to sleep, his dreams are full of charming princesses and sparkling ballrooms.
