Added mechanical arms. My own concept for “car hands” that make sense to me. Hidden beneath a car’s hood are two flexible mechanic arms that can grab, hold or use tools for any purpose. Since their wheels can’t stretch that far, they have to rely on a different mechanism to get things done.

Kaikan

Kaikan is a freeware doujin shoot-em-up, created after hours by two hobbyists in S.T.G. Creator - a toolset of predefined scripts with a graphical interface. It has no setting nor a story to go with it. The developers' website has a charmingly simple HTML aesthetic, characteristic of the 90s, and contains their short bios (they don't take themselves very seriously). Sprites, backgrounds, sounds, music and even fonts were not made specifically for the project. The developers borrowed those freely licensed assets from websites of like-minded enthusiasts. You wouldn't have suspected any of that just from playing the game though - Kaikan is far from amateurish, if not in production values, then definitely so in design. It is a veritable passion project, created with not only with care, but also with competence. Zakichi and Gomazou of Kigekiyahonpo are mindful fans of the genre and know what does and what doesn't make a fun shoot-'em-up.

How about some Lost Anchor concept stuff I made last week.

Introducing Kikan!

Kikan is a forklift and one of the W.I.R.E. bosses. Her main stronghold is located in Tugger's Harbor. Kikan is always in a call or in a meeting. Despite her obsession for plants, Kikan's knowledge about them is quite basic. Once she learned that they can help reduce stress, she surround herself with as many as possible and there isn’t a single room in her facility that isn’t equipped with greenery.

In her early days, she operated as a scientist in a top-secret laboratory where she collected samples and analyzed bizarre creatures. One of her most fascinating subjects was a shapeshifter known as Coffin. Coffin could shapeshift into any vehicle, even models that had been discontinued for decades. This ability allowed her to create rare “spare parts”. As soon as W.I.R.E discovered her value, they quickly decided to murder and disassemble her, storing all of her parts in containers for future study and possibly cloning.

But it didn’t end there. Shortly after, Vessel, a vengeful shapeshifter stormed the building, leaving nothing behind but carnage and total destruction. Ignited a fire that eradicated every trace of research and claimed everyone inside. For Vessel, this act was intended as a warning and to be Coffin’s final resting place.

To put an end to Coffin’s nightmare and to mark the beginning of a new nightmare for W.I.R.E

Against all odds, Kikan managed to escape the inferno with a fragment of Coffin’s remains and data. Since that event W.I.R.E launched a secret mission to hunt down Vessel. To bring him to justice. Vessel on the other hand has been hunting them down
