Love this idea of a SHERIFF!JJ so here we go
SHERIFF!JJ.. who had a troubling childhood. His father was a drug addict and a drunk, who'd turn abusive depending on his mood and time of day.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who because of this acted out, which included breaking the law pretty often and getting drunk and high alongside his degenerate friends, the Pogues.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who stole and robbed; broke into private property (houses and shit); beat up Kooks and others; carried an unlicensed firearm; and almost killed his father. And all of that was before he turned 21.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who was arrested for property damage to Topper Thornton's boat, after it sank. He was then placed in 30k debt for restitution.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who of course, struggled to pay it off. He had no idea how he was going to do it, it was like asking a baby to not cry all day. And so he ended up robbing a drug dealer - not recommended.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who finally decided to clean up his act when all his friends began to grow up and go off to college:
Pope managed to score his scholarship and got chosen to go to medical school, where he studied coronary.
Kiara went to an Arts college, where she studied sculpting and painting. Her work was shown in many workshops and galleries.
John B and Sarah actually got married and settled down. Using her inheritance, they had a family - a son (Jackson Pope Routledge) and a daughter - (Chloe Louisa Routledge)
SHERIFF!JJ.. who didn't know what he wanted to do, until he saw an old woman get robbed in broad daylight, by a man with a mask. Without even thinking, he immediately ran after the man, catching up to him and tackling him to the ground.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who grabbed the purse back off the thief and returned it to the old woman. As a token of her gratitude, she kissed his cheek and smiled at him. His chest physically hurt from how tight his heart had clenched at the gesture.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who waited with the thief until the cops showed up and arrested him. He watched as the people who'd witnessed everything, told the cops of JJ's actions and applauded him.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who enrolled in the police academy and managed to get in thanks to a recommendation letter from Shoupe. It was a lot more difficult than he'd thought, but he was confident and determinded.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who quickly rose to the top of the class - something that he'd never done before - however, he did enjoy the classes and the promise of a future where he helped people and brought gave justice to those deserving.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who graduated from the Police Academy and invited all the Pogues to come see. Of course, they all showed up to celebrate and congratulate their best friend and his surprising achievement.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who went out with the Pogues the same night, back to the Chateau and celebrated how far they'd all come and how much they'd grown. He saw how happy John B and Sarah were together with their kids and little family and he wanted that.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who got a job at the Kildare County Sheriff Station, which shocked pretty much everyone in the station and the whole town. However, despite hating having to deal with JJ for pretty much all of his teen years, Shoupe was the one man who believed in him.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who was taken under Shoupe's wing and rose to a Deputy title very quickly. He loved every moment when he was working - something that had never happened before. He hated every job he worked, except this one, as he actually made a difference for once.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who finally became Sheriff at the age of 27, after Shoupe announced his retirement and passed his title and job down onto JJ.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who became the youngest Sheriff in OBX history. This didn't come without its challenges, due to Shoupe no longer working he had full power over the other officers and deputies at the station, who were all older than him and had a few issues with taking commands from someone in their 20s.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who overcame all challenges, despite everything, and earned the respect of everyone in town, when he brought a long-needed drug lord to justice.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who finally knew what it was like to have to go after and arrest the same person over and over again - just like Shoupe had to do with him, in his younger years.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who's greatest curiosity was you. You were a criminal, no doubt about it, and one that was - as Peterkin would've put it - 'like a little rock in his shoe'. You were exactly like how JJ was growing up, reckless and with no regard for the consequences of your actions.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who hated whenever your name came up on a file on his desk or in an email on his computer. Even worse was when your name came through the radio, when he was driving around in his squad car.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who would do anything for justice and to protect the people of the Outer Banks. No matter how they treated him in his past, even if he didn't want to protect certain people, he was there to 'protect and serve', and that was a vow he took seriously.
SHERIFF!JJ.. who became the best Sheriff to ever work in the Outer Banks..
