*Spoiler Heavy Episode!
Howdy, fans! It's 2018 and That Horror Show Podcast has officially entered its 4th Season! Again, how the show made it this far we'll never know! Anyways, your lovable hosts Timothy Kazda and Chris Koenig decided to tackle just one horror movie for this episode . Tune in as hosts chat about the technologically-terror themed movie "Other Halves"(2015) and get the scoop on why dating apps can be extremely dangerous!
But wait there is more! We proudly announce the triumphant return of the 'What Have We Watched' segment! Listen in as Chris Koenig gives praise to "Glengarry Glen Ross" (1982), while Timothy Kazda reveals his disappointment with "Pitch Prefect 3" (2017).
*Disclaimer: Host Tim's original microphone decided to quit working right before their recording. So a secondary microphone had to be used. Tim is currently working on obtaining a better microphone before their February episode.
Crushing the Backlog
It's official, boys and girls - my backlog is completely out of control. It's not slipping or spiraling. It's already there. So, I have frozen my GameFly account, and committed myself to not purchase another game until I finish some of my unfinished business. There are 5 games I'm currently playing, so I decided that my game-buying fast will continue until I have beaten:
SLEEPING DOGS (360) - DONE! It was far from perfect, but nevertheless a very enjoyable open world game. I'm glad I finally got around to beating it.
ASSASSIN'S CREED 4 (360) - This game is SO GOOD, but I got too distracted with all the side missions to actually beat the story.
FREEDOM WARS (Vita) - I played this entirely offline all the way to the final boss (not including the epilogue missions) but he's REALLY hard. I just need to jump online and get some help from friends.
RATCHET & CLANK (Vita) - This is my first time playing a R&C game, and I'm loving it! I want to keep barreling through while I'm still in the mood.
CHILD OF LIGHT (Vita) - This is the only game of the 5 that I haven't started yet. However, I know it's short, and I've been really looking forward to playing it! This will be the last game that I play from this list, but I want to knock it out before I buy anything else.
If you'd like help crushing your personal backlog, head over to Backloggery.com! It's an excellent resource for cataloging your library and tracking your completion percentage. You can even read and post reviews for other Backloggers.
UPDATE: As of 3/2/15 I've beaten Sleeping Dogs, I have only 2 more levels in Ratchet & Clank, and I'm on the last sequence of AC4 before the Epilogue.
Confession: I'm completely incapable of focusing on any one thing for more than 17 seconds. My wife learned long ago that I will only accomplish anything when I have a long, detailed to-do list.
If you are like me you absolutely need HabitRPG in your life. As the name implies, HPRG lets you "gamify" your to-do lists into a custom role-playing game. Well... "lite-RPG" might be a more accurate description. It's not really a video game in the traditional sense. The gameplay is nothing more than checking off items on a list. What HabitRPG does well, though, is placing a metaphorical carrot in front of you, providing a small amount of motivation to push you through the daily grind.
Your first task as a new HRPG user is to build an avatar with a simple character creator. From there you are free to import all of your daily chores and "To-Do's," and even keep track of habits you would like to develop. Completing your tasks gives you gold and XP, slowly increasing your character level. Like any good role-playing game there are items to buy, collectibles to acquire, and eventually quests and character classes. As silly as it may sound, knowing that you're one "Trip to the Gym" or "Dish Washing" away from a shiny new suit of virtual chainmail really does increase your productivity.
It may not win any Game of the Year awards (heck, it may not even technically be considered a game) but for slackers like me, HabitRPG is definitely worth checking out. Plus, after you import your list of work responsibilities, this may be the only video game your boss will let you play on the clock!
