Killjoys: Party Poison/Reader
Hi could you do a party poison one shot where you and him were dating but then he died at the end of sing but he wasn't actually dead so he comes back like a year later??? And really fluffy please?
(Hope you enjoy! (My first post!)) ~Steampunk Ghoul
I wiped at the beads of sweat that were collecting on my forehead with the back of my hand. The scorching desert sun was beating on my shoulders, and I could feel the beginnings of a light sunburn growing on my skin. I couldn’t take a break yet, I still had work to do. Every now and then I’d help out and do some odd jobs for Dr. D and Show Pony around the station. Of course I was more than happy to lend a hand, but Dr. D always insisted on paying me something, and there’s no way I’d turn down an extra Carbon or two.
It was nice keeping myself busy, especially now. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since...since Poison died. I used to spend most of my time at the diner with the Fab Four, but I’ve barely set foot through the door since then. Even though Kobra, Jet, and Ghoul made it out of the city, it still hurt too much…
I shook myself from my thoughts. No, it’s been a year. You’ve got to-
“(Y/N)!” Show Pony’s voice cut through the quiet desert air. “(Y/N)!” I put down the tools I was using to fix a folding chair and stood up, dusting off my knees.
“What is it?”
Show Pony emerged from the shack, holding out my radio transmitter, wide-eyed. “It was buzzing, and then mine started up and when I answered, I- I couldn’t believe it and, and-” he rambled.
“Pony, what is it?” I urged him, growing worried.
“It was Jet Star. Poison...he’s back.” I could feel my jaw practically falling into the sand at my feet.
“What?! What are you talking about?”
Rather than try to explain, Pony thrust the transmitter into my hands. I turned it to the frequency I knew by heart and took a breath as I held in the ‘talk’ button.
“Jet? Jet are you there?”
Silence.
Silence.
Static.
“(Y/N)!” Jet’s voice was muffled coming from the receiver. “Poison! Hang on (Y/N).” There was a sound of shuffling, and then a voice.
“(Y/N)!” I knew that voice. It’d been so long but I still knew that voice, I’d never forget it.
“P-Poison? Oh my god, Poison,” I could feel tears streaming down my cheeks. “What happened? I thought, I thought you were-”
“I know, I know, I’ll explain everything, I promise. You’re at Dr. D’s, right? I’ll be right over, okay?” He didn’t wait for a response and I were met with static as he ended the transmission. I turned to Show Pony, who had a tear in his eye, but a smile stretching from ear-to-ear matching the one on my own face.
---------
Time felt as if it were going in slow-motion as I watched the Trans Am pull up to the shack with dust clouding behind it. The car had barely come to a stop when the driver’s door flew open and Party Poison stumbled out, nearly tripping over his own feet. He ran to me and we wrapped our arms around each other and we just stood there, not letting go.
“I missed you. I missed you so much,” My voice came out hardly louder than a whisper.
“I missed you too, (Y/N).” Poison pressed a kiss onto the top of my head, pulling me in closer.
I looked up at him, I didn’t know what to say. What do you say when the one you love comes back after a year of thinking he was dead? “Your hair, it’s different.” Well I guess that’s something.
“Well the city’s got some rules about that kinda stuff, y’know?” Poison laughed; a deep laugh from the stomach that said as much as I needed to hear. A laugh that told me that after a year apart, he was back, and we wouldn’t be letting go any time soon.
