2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)?
Forward is easiest, but between facing left and right... I guess right? I flip my canvas so much digitally that it doesn't really matter, but I think I usually default to right.
More interestingly(?) though, I do preferentially draw certain characters facing left or right depending on the details of their designs :0
For instance, whenever possible, I prefer to draw Cerby facing toward (the viewer's) left, because his scar (and his biggest hair swoosh) are on his left, so having him angled that way shows those off better!
Terrence, on the other hand, is usually facing right, because the "boomerang" curl in his hair is on his right side:
Of course, I can and do draw both of those two facing the other way; sometimes deliberately (e.g. to de-emphasize Cerby's scar) or sometimes just because that's how the scene worked out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't think I have a preferred side for Gracie because apart from her scar (which is much less dramatic than Cerby's), her design is more balanced (and while her hair is pretty much a longer version of Terrence's, the difference between the face-framing pieces is less apparent).
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
On Tumblr, 0% ;;>~> I haven't posted any in almost a year (excluding the examples I stuck on this post, I suppose). I don't draw for attention, but that's sort of the point of posting, and since I was getting hardly any interaction over here I stopped bothering ;; I miss Google+… 😭
On instagram, maybe 85%? I really should actually post more instead of just dumping my sketches on my stories, but one way or another most of it ends up there ^^; Fuck Meta, ofc, but a handful of people do see, like, and occasionally even comment on my stuff there so at least it doesn't feel like I'm posting into a void :')
9. What are your file name conventions?
Untitled art (1) (1) (1) (1)... I mean, I don't really have anything consistent. I don't normally do keysmashes, but otherwise... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I guess if no real title comes to mind when I'm exporting, "[Character name] + [some quick descriptor of what's in the piece]"? Or "[Acronym] + [page #]" for comic pages... the acronyms are usually very vague working ones that may or may not make sense.
