War Of The Worlds: Killraven
Original Art
Art by P. Craig Russell And Keith Giffen
Marvel Comics (1976)
From Heritage Auctions...
An ideal teaming of artists (Russell's layouts/Giffen's finishes) finds heroic warrior Killraven in conflict with a menacing brute, known as Emmanuel, who must reproduce in 24 hours or become extinct. The villain's quest, in turn, places Killraven's ally, Carmilla Frost, in immediate danger. Author Don McGregor's intellectually deep dialogue is served well by the existential struggle implicit in the artwork: More than a mere funnybook slugfest, the page conveys an epic resonance in the classic science-fiction tradition. The published issue also is known as Amazing Adventures Featuring War of the Worlds, in light of its unofficial kinship to H.G. Wells' most famous novel
70's Black Panther & Killraven commission by Sandy Plunkett (2021).
Also used as the cover of this magazine, focused on Don McGregor's career in this issue (the writer of both those characters in the 1970s).
Keith Giffen and Al Milgrom got trippy as fuck in this issue of Killraven.
