You know, as I speak, I can see Cicely's latest visitor, Lance Bristol, hunting for recyclables across from our KBHR studios. And as I look at his matted hair and his threadbare clothes, my gut-level response is revulsion, an inner, primal recoiling.

I mean, from where do these feelings spring?

Certainly it's not a rational response to a man who is no threat to me. Bottom line? I could be Lance, Lance could be me. My response, I guess, should therefore be empathy, caring, consideration.

Then I'm going to spend a week on one of these magnificent, sun-filled isles. Grand Cayman, fabulous barrier reef, wall diving. Caneel Bay, incredible white sand beaches, coconut palms. Jamaica, oh, man, look at this golf course near Runaway Bay.
