Last week + Movida Corona 2011
Hey everyone,
Last week was hectic, and I'll tell you all about it ! :)
Monday:
The night before, a couple of mates of mine, Toby & Helfner, was hanging out at Toby's crib, watching a movie and talkin' trash.. When I awoke, Helfner was gone, he had to go attend some studio sessions he had going on in another city...
So, me and Toby had the house to ourselves, we figured we would start making some music, (and Taco's :D).. And made a day out of it, great stuff :)
Tuesday:
Worked on a brand new remix which I really can't (want), (to) give out any information about just yet, all I can say is: 2012 is going to be a great year! :)
Wednesday:
I stayed home and worked at home with a new single, which you'll hear a preview off PRETTY soon ;)
Later hooked up with Kim Andersen to work on some collab productions, which also will be kept a secret until further notice..
Had a private party gig at Mango from around 21 - 02, and went straight home to get som sleep for the Movida Corona DJ Competition 2011 !
Thursday:
Got up early, went to the office and finetuned some mixing techniques for the Movida Corona DJ Competition which was being held at Blå for the two coming nights, which I can tell you was... INTENSE, and AWESOME... yeah, those are gonna be my two main words for this years competition.
Before I headed over to Blå, my roommate for the weekend - my Brazilian friend from Arendal - Droydi (André Carvalho), which also entered the competition, arrived at the Dunka Dunka HQ for some rnr before it started.
First we all arrived at 16:00 for registration, and there was about 60 registered, however.. only 23 showed up!
So, since there were so many DJ's signed up, they "had" to do add an extra round with 5 mins of solo playing, which chose 12 to go to the next round. Thankfully, I was amongst those 12..
At around 21-22ish they decided to start out the next rounds: back-to-back, 15 mins total playtime. I was lucky enough to get paired up with one of my mates - Christian Thoresen (Alias: Christian N), so we went for a 4 eyed conversation to plan, but we ended up with agreeing that he starts with a certain track, and that we would take it from there.. Funny thing, he didn't have that track with him, so the entire set pretty much ended up on the go...
After alot of great DJ's, alot of great sets and alot of tension, they announced the Regional Finals (Oslo).
The lineup was as follows:
Christian N vs. José Zapata
&
Nicky Shah vs. Johanne Barman.
Back-to-back for 20 mins total.
GREAT, 2 of my good friends and a girl who I had met plenty of other times and whom i share loads of common friends with :)
After another GREAT battle, the judges made up their mind and chose the girl - Johanne Barman, which delivered an awesome set along with Nicky Shah.
Friday:
After being defeated the night before, I knew I had to see who was gonna win the Movida Corona Norway 2011, and I had to see for myself if it was a worthy winner of course :)
The competitors for the finals, in timed order:
Anthony Chase - Bergen (Can't find a link to any artist page)
Whiteshade - Trondheim
MS Dj LineMj - Stavanger
Martin Garfjell - Tromsø
Johanne Barman - Oslo (Can't find a link to any artist page)
All of the above, delivered great sets, with loads of energy, highs and lows.. But one of the sets really stood out and caught my attention. However, due to the reason that I know 4 of the contenders, I'm going to leave out the name...
The Rankings for Movida Corona 2011:
1. Johanne Barman
2. Martin Garfjell
3. MS Dj LineMj
Congratulations !
Saturday:
André and me slacked on the couch, philosophising, exchanging music, and trashtalking to eachother with racial stereotypes.. most of them again me... :(
We went to a chinese restaurant in the middle of Majorstuen, and had a great meal to fuel up for our night, afterwards we headed over to Hausmania, where some brazilian girls he had met at the competition on Thursday and Friday, had put us up on the guestlist. (How nice!) Before we had to leave at around 23, as he was playing at Ish togheter with Pistolpuma, and I had a gig for The Royal Ruard at their annual ball, at Hotel Plaza.. Which was really a treat, I played for about 2 hours, and they danced their asses off :) And the best thing, after such an exhausting week, I got off work early for once: 02:00, so I went over to the new, hot club in town: Ish, to check out my friend André's set together with Pistolpuma, which I missed by 5 minutes ! Just my luck :( However, we enjoyed some great music delivered by Pistolpuma, and got a couple of free burger vouchers from him, and headed on home - burger in hand :)
All in all, an exhausting, yet GREAT week, and I can't wait till' next years Movida Corona :D
Ciao!
On Sunday morning, Danish broadcaster TV2 Sport reported that Riis had fired Andersen. “That's not quite right and it's not entirely wrong,” Riis said, adding that Saxo Bank would release a statement later on Sunday. However Andersen told the broadcaster in a telephone interview from Luxembourg that his contract with the team has been terminated. He confirmed the plans for the Luxembourg team.
Andersen Quits Saxo Bank To Create Luxembourg Team With Schlecks | Cyclingnews.com
Wow, I guess those rumors were real. I'll bet real money that the Schlecks will take Jakob Fuglsang who has been holding out on resigning with Saxo probably waiting for this to unfold. And Laurent Didier if his contract is up. Are there Luxembourgers with contracts ending that might make the jump? The sponsorship gambit must be horrible if Riis can't lock down a new title sponsor--Saxo has had amazing results this season including Paris-Roubaix. This might not be entirely bad for Riis; with the money freed up, he can lock down riders on the team (Porte comes to mind) and/or shop for big names looking to transfer, granted he can find a sponsor.
