Frank Ocean...check him out NOW!!

I have no clue as to why I haven't posted about this yet. He has been in my CD players and ipods on repeat for THE LONGEST!! I love this man and his music and all I want is to search for more! His voice, his lyrics, everything is just...on point. [And after searching for his picture for this post he sounds NOTHING like he looks...I find it to be peculiar but at the same time, I like it!]

When I first heard about him, I hear that he was part of a group known as Odd Future, or OFWGKTA, I won't go into to much detail about them...'cause if you like them, that's all based on your personal preference and I can't knock ya.... BUT I was NOTTTTT going to listen to him knowing he was rolling with them. I'm not a fan of that type of music. However, the people that know what type of music I like CONTINUOUSLY told me not to sleep on him and 'judge him' but to get his mixtape Nostalgia Ultra... and when I did, I was nothing but grateful and singing his praises, as well. 

Some of my favorites on the Mixtape are We All Try, Novacane, and Songs for Women. Once again, I don't know whyyyyyyy it's taken me so long to write his post but forgive me and GO GET HIS MIXTAPE!!! Think I'll go listen to him now... Gender Roles in Today's Society?

While looking at different blogs the other day I saw a man's list of traits his "perfect woman" would have. One thing he said he wanted was a woman that: respected 'gender roles' in a relationship and liked being feminine and womanly. At first, I agreed completely. Then reality hit me and I realized our generation does NOT socially agree or even make this possible....

Men. You're supposed to be in charge. Leading, chasing, planning, opening the door, paying for dinner....just overall running things! What do ya'll use to get OUT of it? "All ya'll women sing them songs about being independent so..be independent."  And then, just to make sure you treat NO woman right, you further weed them out based on if they're snooty, slutty, thirsty, or just prude. Now...let's see if any of this is fair...  If a woman plays her ORIGINAL role && waits for you to take the lead, chase [effectively], plan dates, open her door, and pay for dinner...she's snooty or stuck up. Ok..she bites and decides that she is interested, will pull her weight and hit you up, too....uh oh, you came across a thirsty one. Naw, eff that, she doesn't want a relationship and instead just flirts with all the guys she meets, does her and enjoys herself...nope, youre not just single, you're a slut. Just kidding...she doesn't want to "enjoy herself," she just wants to be single and patiently wait for the right guy to come along...nope, not even YOU are safe, you're a prude and insecure LOSER.   

*sigh* I don't see how anyone wins in this dating game. I blame both sides because we spare no soul when it comes to labeling/calling another woman thirsty or a slut/loser. But I definitely admire a man that accepts a snooty/stuck up girl that is more than happy to be feminine and allows him to take the lead. Because that just means that HE is mature and ready to play HIS role.

Dat's My Lil' Dip [remix] by MPS ft. Just Brittany, BeatKing, Fat Pimp, and Lil Boom.

This video/song is absolutely ridiculous...but not in its entirety. I think Just Brittany's verse/whatever you call it...pointed out some decent rules that deserved to be written down and analyzed... First, they make sure to define a dip. The young man says... "A dip is a sideline...a bad bitch that will abide by the guidelines." In other words...you're not the girlfriend, and you better respect the fact that you're not the girlfriend. By abiding by the guidelines there should be no conflict, and more often than not, the sideline is STILL a bad bitch...in some cases, not all, finer than the main. Sorry. Here are the rules Just Brittany laid out if you want to be HER lil dip...

Rule #1 - He gotta respect the game, 'cause he know he not my main; and he barely know my name.. - Now, as the dip, you must respect the game. We're not here to get to know each other like that, and you are NOT my man...so know this and don't get it twisted. It just is what it is...you don't come first, but you don't come last. Enjoy it... Rule #2 - He know where he stand and he gotta give me grands, if he wanna be my man. - To not get into last place, you have to act accordingly...if she wants grands, she want's grands. Give it or get gone. Oh, and know where you stand, don't get crazy with if I ONLY want grands and NOT to meet your friends. It ain't that type of ballgame...as stated in rule #1.

Rule #3 - I make him buy me shoes, Gucci-Gucci, Louis, Prada, and Chanel bags, too.

 -Once again, if you want to stick around, make yourself useful. :)

THE ABSOLUTE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF THEM ALL!!!

Rule #4 - I don't cuff 'em, I don't love 'em....and you NEVER supposed to trust 'em, you just fuck 'em, then you dump 'em.

Period. Male Readers...please take note. Shoot, female readers too. We all need to know our place, act accordingly, and/or treat our Lil' Dips && sidelines with NO respect. O_O

30 day music challenge.. day 06 - a song that reminds you of somewhere.

growing up we would spend every summer in Nigeria...and what you came with is what you listened to/watched. And that only. Lol. So when I listen to this song and the entire Justified CD I think of the one summer that I listened to it over and over and over and over and over again. And how I still could do the same thing today and not mind at all.  Enjoy.
