Hello. I hope you don’t mind me asking this, but I think I’m kin with Karkat Vantas and I’m getting all emotional over the Signless, and his death and I really want to work with him but I can’t find him, and I don’t know what to do. Do you have any advice for an emotional Karkat who misses his ancestor?
Becoming in touch with your spiritual side is a process, often a continual process with no final destination. The path everybody walks to open their mind up to the spirits is different....as is the time it takes to make the connection at all.
So, Karkat, what I say to you is don’t say “you can’t find him” but rather “have not found him yet,” and then keep looking. The Signless that I am familiar with has a sense of pride for his descendant, and I can imagine your’s does too.
Keep looking, keep honing your spiritual skills through practice and acceptance. One of the most common problems in spiritual work is an inaccurate expectation on what “real” magic feels like. The truth is, it feels differently and often very subtle... if you believe it was magic, follow that instinct even if it didn’t seem “real” enough.
