In the early 2000s, KAWS worked on an increasingly large scale, growing from the small paintings sold in blister packs into these almost life-size canvases. As with his sculptural figures, the characters in the paintings and the situations in which they interact suggest their role as stand-ins for humans, with all the behaviors and relationships, joys and dysfunctions of family and friendships.
