My father’s mother objected to him marrying my mother solely based on the fact that she was darker and went so far as to find him an ‘alternate’ lightskinned woman. who, by the way was a fucking batshit disaster but she was light so it didn't matter.   

She apologized a couple years ago for the shit she pulled when they were dating and just after they were married. But it took over 20 years and 3 grandchildren before she could admit she was acting like that because of my mother’s complexion, a difference in fucking pigment. she didn't care if she was good to my father, didn't care if she was educated (which she is), didn't care about none of that. Just cared that she was too dark for her son. 

thats one person’s fucked up story but how many people got the same story or worse how many people's story ends with them leaving someone they love bc people thought he/she was too dark for marriage. 

so, can we stop with the ‘you're reachin’ comments on @kimreesesdaughter’s post cause she aint gotta reach far, trust me.
