okay truthfully i don't think i have a theory so much as a string of questions and details that i think are all connected. i have a whole post about it here and it surrounds KIN + the context of paige's heritage

spoilers through the dark mirror obviously, but the synopsis they just released for the moth reborn suggests that maybe i'm not crazy

to add on because it's been a while and i've been thinking many thoughts:

i am haunted by that moment when warden points out (IN BOOK ONE) that memory of BLOOD that paige cannot remember

while i obviously have no idea what the fuck he's talking about, i do kind of wonder if it's either 1) a memory of her mother / her mother's disappearance / her mother's supposed death 2) a traumatic beginning to her story outside of her mother - like i don't know, maybe she got kidnapped by rephs as a baby or something 3) somehow she ended up / started out (?) in the netherworld

the moth reborn synopsis alludes to paige's heritage - which could mean clairvoyance in general or dreamwalking or her mother/father or a secret other thing that we don't know yet..... but i do think i believe that she's related to these poltergeists (maybe not by family blood, but at least via the ether and maybe dreamwalking)

is paige some sort of Mega Clairvoyant who commands the ether better than most (see my theory about the cut section "thaumaturge" i really really REALLY hope she cut that to bring it back at the proper moment PLEASE SAMANTHA I AM BEGGING YOU)??? is she??? perhaps??? reph related??

based on all of this, the "gift" that her father left her feels VERY HEAVY and IMPORTANT

then there's the question of The Dark Mirror which is not a Thing but also it is a thing because it's WATER which is paige's enemy but also her recovery and yet BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER or so the saying goes - is KIN the BLOOD? who IS her kin???

and of course. how does pandora fit into this?

me: wait surely paige and warden aren't like reborn from a past life right????

AND WHAT IS THE OLD SECRET THAT SEB IS ALLUDING TOO IN BOOK ONE!!!!!

i love when you read long series like this because it's like OH BOY A PUZZLE!!! MAYBE I CAN SOLVE IT!!! and then you sit with it and you're like damn i'm missing a lot of key details that would make this so so simple :/

so yeah again, in conclusion, i don't actually have a theory. i have the suggestion of a few theories that i think will become more clear by the end of book six (or hopefully maybe my questions will be solved! idk!!!)

Shift as who you are today.

Tonight, I've noticed that sometimes I shift as a kintype, but personality-wise, I feel nothing like how I am in the timeline the kintype feels linked up to.

At those times, I just feel like... i'm not reliving being me in that timeline when I shift like that. I'm just the me I am now, while still feeling shifted as that kintype.

So for example, I feel Bro Strider shifted right now. All I can explain it as is like, I feel very much that I am Bro, and that is currently taking center stage as my ID. (Of course I am always Bro, but only in shifts does the ID take such precedence for me.) Yet... normally in Bro shifts i'm more reserved and cold. But right now? I feel personable and outgoing, just how I generally am in life.

So yeah, just some thoughts.

My kin is a bear who is a spirit of the forest. I often feel invalid because I’m pretty sure no one else has the same kintype as me. Do you think that makes my kintype any less valid? I love your blog by the way

First of all thank you for telling me you love my blog, ily!!!

So, I say this a lot, but it's true. No one kintype is invalid. The thing about kintypes is that very few people have actually discovered any of their own, and a lot of people only find one or two. And even then, people tend to stick to labels that already exist. You might have been a flaming devil wolf with magic fire powers, but you'll probably still call yourself "wolfkin" or "demonkin" and will identify with others who use those same labels.

There is a functionally infinite number of possible kintypes given that everything has energy and thus a "soul". We just don't hear much about the boulderkins or apartmentkins because it's extremely difficult or impossible to relate, as a human, to those things. It's a lot easier to relate personally to a nature spirit bear than it is to relate to a house, and therefore you'll probably never figure out you're kin with a house, but you WILL figure out you're kin with a nature spirit bear.

What I'm saying here is that there are no invalid kintypes. The chance that you'll have a kin that is completely unique to you is actually pretty damn high given the chances at play here. So, embrace the fact that you have a unique kintype. It's something you should be proud of. You have a very special piece of something in your soul that belongs to you and only you. Cherish it!

right so I said that I’d ramble about kin theory stuff so ok I’m gonna start out with this is assuming 2 things

parallel universes exist

souls exist

so according to quantum theory there should be infinite universes with infinite possibilities, which means any story that’s ever been told, any possible outcome you could think of exists in some universe somewhere. So Undertale exists in a universe in it’s entirety for example, same with hunter x hunter and any other form of media. 

Now I have a theory: the existence of a perpendicular universe. A singular perpendicular universe that spans across all universes and realities and connects them in some way. Now this universe is probably some sort of energy or antimatter universe but I don’t know enough about string theory to say, but it could explain things like dark matter, certain paranormal occurrences, etc.

Souls are basically pure energy it’s your life force and being and everything. It makes sense that souls can extend itself beyond it’s universe and into others. So whether or not kin memories are past lives or if we exist at the same time, well I guess that’s up to person to decide. But time also isn't linear so even if souls has existed in the same two universes for one person it could be a past life and another it could be a parallel life. It’s not like its an exact science yet.
