Reminder: Nonbinary struggles go much further past us being "valid." I wonder sometimes that the fixation on our validity is a convenient distraction from addressing our oppression and subjugation.

your regression is valid !
whether you're a pet regressor or an age regressor, a permaregressor or a temporary regressor, a voluntary or involuntary regressor, a baby regressor, a toddler regressor, a preteen regressor, or a teen regressor, you are valid !!!!

"Your feelings are valid!"
Valid =/= rational.
Valid =/= more important than others'.
Valid =/= an excuse for your behavior.
It honestly took me many years to learn this.
People spout a lot of toxic positivity with regards to feelings, and it definitely impacts how we handle conflicts. That is, negatively.
This is because people fundamentally misunderstand what valid means in this context. When it comes to feelings, "valid" means that they are real and that you have the right to feel them.
I'm gonna tackle the three points I made above here:
Valid =/= rational:
Just because your feelings are valid does not mean they are based in facts or logic. We cannot control our feelings. They are often rooted in subconscious biases. This is why they say our feelings are not us.
Valid =/= more important than others'.
Just because your feelings are valid does not mean they are the only important feelings in the room. Other people's feelings matter, too.
Valid =/= an excuse for your behavior.
Just because your feelings are valid does not mean that you get to do harmful things because of them. It is true that our feelings inform and influence our actions. However, the difference between the two is simple: we cannot control our feelings. We can control our actions. Our actions are our responsibility.
I hope this information helped you like it's helped me. It's given me a much healthier outlook on life, and has allowed me to treat my loved ones better.
episteme — knowledge or understanding.
in the context of Foucault: the underlying framework that defines the conditions of possibility for knowledge in a particular historical period. not just about what people know, but about the rules and structures that determine how they come to know it. each era has its own episteme that governs the production of knowledge (e.g., think of how differently we understand biology, economics, or linguistics compared to those in the 18th century). these frameworks operate beneath the surface, often unconsciously guiding what is considered valid knowledge.
shapes the discourse of the time, influencing language, concepts, and categories used in various fields of study. helps us recognize what we consider "truth" or "knowledge" is not universal or timeless, but instead shaped by historical and cultural contexts
the argument for transmeds stops when they try to weaponize what society thinks over another. "how are you nonbinary if you dress like that? you'll never be respected". you bring up that this applies for all trans people many will try to weasle their way out and say something cheap like "no once you pass they will start respecting you". keyword is "pass". no matter how much you pass, there will always be society there trying to bring you down, detransition you, dehumanize you, misgender you, and deny you of your reality.
then if you bring up the fact that being able to be gendered correctly and treated with respect once you pass could be considered a privilege by that logic, they avoid that too. because cissexual nonbinary people are oppressing them (of course actual proof of this oppression is not given).
I could not care less that the transphobic conservative down the street would never respect my nonbinary identity or gender me correctly. you are validating yourself on the opinions of people who did not pass highschool biology. you can define yourself that way and be miserable, but I'm not succumbing to that.
my point is stop giving transmedicalists and 4chan dwellers credibility. their exorsexism is not your burden to carry!!! anybody who plays into validity politics for approval from the people in the office who fearmonger about trans people being predators...while said people are being mentioned thousands of times in the p3dophile bible...is not serious with themselves.
just saw a muslim girl tiktoker say, nail polish is allowed and doesnt invalidate whudu bc the khuf is the same thing; something over the actual limb but wiping over it is sufficient for whudus validity. she also said, that it disadvantages women because men can leave the foot unwashed while women cant leave their hands unwashed.
and my argument is, its not abt whudu, its abt ghusl of the mayyit; ghusl isnt valid unless water touches the body, khuf is easily removable (just a zip) while polish isnt (polish remover and scraping), harm and aggression cant be done to the body. and we can die at any time so theres no predicting when thatll happen so rather dont do nail polish for the sake of those who'll bathe ur body for the last time. return to ur Lord the same way He made u: clean and pure; u were not made with polish on ur nails 🩷
this is a lesson for me first, and by no means am i criticising or insulting any scholar or religious opinion. im merely giving my own view and take on the matter 💅
Some fics will have the most beautifully well written summaries and then the fic itself is a 3500 word one shot
Meanwhile another fic will have like “wrote this drunk at 3am after another grippy sock vacay lmao” as their summary and it’s a 50k word whole ass novel with two redemption arcs and a random out-of-left-field AU tag
