A Wolf of Water; A Cat of Snow
You only see the wolf; I am always baring my teeth in smiles.
I am afraid.
A wolf of water slips by in silence, but a cat of snow falls with grace. Baring smiles in the day, a wolf can be vicious if it is harassed.
Wolves of the wild do not have dominance; they know how to assess needs together.
A wolf will hunt if need be; glorious skills help it to survive.
But should it have to hunt?
A cat of snow falls with grace; it can talk and be heard.
A cat will mewl for affection; knowing people it is close to will listen.
Cats lay on their back when loved; they know their hisses are understood.
Yet, baring teeth of ice, the cat can melt away... leaving the wolf to teethe on swallowed needs.
Following miscommunication, forced domestication, and aggression....
The wolf smiles at its leader, scavenging with teeth bared to bear abuse... Only ever responding as a cat in the rare moment to translate:
“I will hunt for you; you think you need it this way so you can thrive.”
