@kindofvertigo asked: 👫 for the boys!! (you know which boys)
These two tired introverts have a knack for holding each other accountable. They didn’t eat due to work and hero responsibilities? They’ll leave a plate of food by the other’s work station. Working too late? They’ll shut off each other’s electronics and force the other to take a quick nap, or if insomnia is hitting hard, they’ll watch B horror movies or star gaze, with Tak teaching Danny about the stars native to Irk.
Since they’re both tied to the supernatural in their own way, I can definitely seeing them having a connection based on that commonality. Tak’s ESP slowly returns after she reprograms her PAK, so she’s able to see spirits when the humans of the team can’t.
They go all out for Halloween. Tak’s perfected FX makeup since her second stay on Earth, and they’ll occasionally do matching outfits. It was so realistic last year that they ended up scaring the pants off of Jazz.
The type of friends that will text each other until three in the morning with either super deep, emotional conversations or memes or both.
Ben is literally Tak’s hero. Like, when they first encountered each other, Tak was still reeling from her recent reprogramming and the memories of what she did to innocent people on Earth. She was expecting to be attacked or arrested and put into some plumber prison, but Ben just offered to be friends. She tried to push him away, but he was persistent and kind. He stayed. And he does so much for others. Tak acts like it doesn’t affect her, but when they’re alone, you can see how her eyes shine with admiration. She would both kill and die for this human okay.
In contrast to Danny, Ben is an extrovert and helps Tak by getting her out of her own head. Whether it’s a drive to their favourite smoothie place or Planetary Studios, he takes her on adventures and brings out her inner smeet, and he always knows the perfect thing to say to make her laugh. On the other hand, Tak helps him with self-care and the realisation that he can’t do everything at once. He’s just one man. He can accept help without feeling guilty.
It’s often hard for Ben to keep close friendships due to his occupation and the dangers that come with it, but he and Tak are still going strong. She often aids the plumbers outside of her resisty responsibilities, and I can definitely see Grandpa Max adopting her, especially since she doesn’t mind his cooking lol.
In our verse, the plumbers definitely aid the resisty in taking down the control brains, and they and their allies help rehabilitate Irken soldiers. The Irken-Highbreed Alliance is forged through a meeting Ben facilitated between Tak and Reinrassig III. I also still love the image of Hive Queen Tak being austere and intimidating, until she sees Ben arrive on the Massive’s main bridge. Then she just
runs and clings to him like a koala. She misses her bff whenever he leaves.
Ben likes to jokingly call her “your highness,” to which she’ll reply “knave.” It’s all in good fun, of course, and many of the officials on board the Massive are taken aback at first at how informal he is to their new leader. She’ll still playfully punch his shoulder after a bad joke, and he still calls her “Tik Tak,” too.
