so i started playing vampire the masquerade bloodlines as one does
and very soon it made me start wanting to reread Pekhov's Kindret books
well, I say "kindret" as a transliteration from Russian. It's absolutely a creative transliteration of "kindred" though and like... the author claims to have never played the game and have 0 familiarity with it. the book series features multiple vampire clans calling themselves 'kindret', most of them suspiciously similar to the clans in the game. shared terminology like ‘childe’ which is extremely not a russian word. sunlight is deadly, garlic is not - it's basically the same vampire mechanics, but it takes place in moscow (where else) and has a completely different plot (well, I'm getting the impression taht the basic premise of "ancient progenitors awakening is Bad News Bear" is similar, but a lot of things are different)
(this is not the only game this particular writer swears to have never played while sharing half the mechanics)
anyway the books are good actually
