Chapter One: </code>
You followed your best friend through the hallways as they led you to the area you’d be working in. Your first day of the tour was a little nerve-wracking, to say the least. You had been pushed every which way today and still hadn’t even met the band that you were supposed to be working for. King Blue had been one of those bands that you had never heard of before, but you needed the money.
“Don’t stress so much, love!” Their chipper voice pulled you from your trance as you looked around at everything before you. Cases for instruments and amplifiers lined the walls with the band’s logo on them for nearly the entire hallway.
You waved them off and smiled. “I’m not stressed, don’t worry. I just hope that this tour goes by quickly.” The narrowing eyes on your best friend’s face told you that they didn’t feel the same. “I’m sorry. I know that you’ve been obsessed with these guys for what feels like forever.”
Their whining made you raise your eyebrows. “This is like a dream come true for me, please don’t make me regret getting you this gig with me.”
You laughed and ran your hands across one of the amp cases as you walked by, your hand running over a piece of tape that held a name on it. Dabi. “I won’t ruin it for you. I’m just here for the money, baby.”
They turned back around and led you further, rolling their eyes as they did. “It’s time for you to meet the band. They go on in five, so let’s go.”
You followed them down the hallways further as you came to a dressing room that held the same name you had just run your hand over. They knocked and waited for an answer before opening the door.
As you stepped inside you saw a group of people standing around a small coffee table with shot glasses in their hands. The group was smiling as they caught your eyes. “(B/F/N), it’s been a minute. How are you?” The blonde haired girl seemed the happiest to see you both as she stepped toward you.
A man with raven colored hair and burn scars slowly backed toward the wall, watching you cautiously. Your mind instantly tried to figure out why he had locked eyes with you. As you watched him further you saw the tattoos that lined his arms, your eyes fell on every single one of them as he downed his shot and crossed his arms.
The man with grayish-blue hair huffed as he noticed that the tattooed man had now found you staring. “What’s the matter Dabi? Not used to crew members after all this time?”
You averted your eyes and looked to the floor. Dabi’s own eyes doing the same. “Shut up, crusty.”
(B/F/N) quickly spoke up, trying to ease the tension that had now settled on the room. “Everyone, this is Y/n, she’s new to the crew. It’s her first day with us.” They pointed to each member as they spoke. “This is Shigaraki, Toga, Jin, and Dabi.” As his name was spoken he looked back up, giving you a small wave.
You smiled weakly at them all and waved. “Hi everyone. Happy to be here.”
A stage hand came through the door as you all stood together, interrupting the conversation you had been having. “You guys are on in one minute!”
They all started moving, walking past you as they grabbed their jackets and such. As Dabi reached you his shoulder gently brushed your own, electricity flying through you as you instinctively turned around to watch him throw on his very.
Your best friend turned to you and nudged your arm. “You’ve been watching Dabi since we got in here, you know he’s the front man, right?”
You sensed that energy from him when you had entered that dressing room and started to walk, now focused on seeing what this band was really made of. (B/F/N) followed you as you made your way down the hall, stopping just at the entrance of the stage, already hearing the music playing as you reached the entrance.
You watched as Dabi grabbed the mic, holding it like it was a part of his body, like it belonged exactly in his hand. His voice nearly threw you for a loop as you listened to him, not expecting the deep, guttural screams that he could muster. The tactical vest that he wore made your heart flutter as he ran around the stage. The beginning riffs of their songs came from the guitar in Toga’s hand, sending vibrations through your limbs.
“Everything you know in the focus
Live in the moment
Don't have to question why
Listen to the sound of the virus
You can't deny this
Get up and amplify”
You wanted to step out on that stage, wanted to be closer to them. You watched as Shigaraki’s hands came down easily on the drum set, every strike of the drum sticks mesmerizing. The look of Jin with his bass as he ran around behind Dabi made you realize that this band was more than just a band, they were in sync, they were a family.
“I want it all
The chemical
The fix that makes me feel
Like I overdose in stereo
And lose control of "real"
(I can't believe it's real)”
The pure happiness that you could feel from the four of them as they pranced around made you feel like you were on top of the world.
As Dabi made his way toward your side of the stage you locked away again. And to your shock his face wore a smile, the biggest smile you had seen on someone in a long time. You realized that the live shows were his drug, he had gotten exponentially happier from the time you had met him to this moment right now.
The man who had seemed cold before as he watched you had completely changed. The way he spoke to the fans, the way he gripped onto his bandmates as they played their solos and swayed to the music.
“Between the grey
We medicate
In hypnotic unity
And between the notes
We surrender the host
And become the energy”
The words that came from Dabi’s mouth next had solidified that for you. They were best friends, they were a team, and their fans were their family. They were in sync with each other, just as their fans were in sync with them.
“Of one mind, of one soul
We unite to write our code
So bleed your message at the tone
'Cause we don't have to feel alone
More than ones and zeros
Overriding all we know
Redefining the unknown on my own
Melodic overdose
In you I heard a sign
Screaming from in the shadows
Emotions intertwined
Emotions intertwined”
As they all ran off stage you had a better understanding of who they were as people. Who they were as a band. Dabi stopped just in front of you and looked over at (B/F/N). “Give us a minute?”
Your eyes were wide as you stared back at him. Was he really looking to talk to you of all people? (B/F/N) looked to him and smiled, giving a salute as the music started in the venue, a queue that the show was over and for them to break down the set.
Dabi held his hand out to you with a grin. “I’m Dabi, it’s nice to meet you.”
You slowly lifted your hand and grasped his. “I’m Y/n, it’s nice to have a proper introduction.”
His laugh was angelic as he ran his hand down his arm, paint that had been there now coming off on his palm from the sweat. You grabbed his hand and pulled it toward you, taking a towel from the table beside you and wiping it for him. “Let me help with that.”
As you wiped his hand you felt his gaze never leave you. “Do you wanna grab some food together?” He took a deep breath as he scratched the back of his head nervously. “I usually eat with the others but I’d love to get to know you a little better.”
You stopped wiping his hand and looked up at him, not able to help the smile that you fought back anymore. “I’d love that, Dabi.”
And just like that the tour that you had wished would end soon became something you wouldn’t mind doing and didn’t want to go by in a blink of an eye. An instant bond between Dabi and yourself growing as the days would pass. No longer was the job a burden that you were only doing for your friend, it was something you wanted to do.

A/N: For anyone that knows the band, Motionless In White, this entire series is based on their music. Their songs have been stuck in my head for months now. I'm so glad I'm finally going to get the opportunity to bring this idea to life because of the @konoblog-simps. I'm going to make sure that I have all of the pieces ready before I put them out for you, but feel free to ask about being placed on the masterlist for it if you'd like before it comes out if you're not already a part of my BNHA tag list. 🥺❤

Part Four: Holding Onto Smoke
Part Five: Eternally Yours
I highly recommend checking them out if you're into metal bands! Motionless In White has been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid, though I probably shouldn't have been listening to them as young as I was, but who doesn't disobey their parents as children? 😂
