The Queen: *looks sad*
The King: What is it?
The Queen: I think I'm ugly.
The King: Who said that?
The Queen: ...the voice in my head.
The King, looking angry: Let me speak to them this instant.
King Caradoc: *turns around* I've been expecting you, Jane.
Jane: How did you know it was me without turning around?
King Caradoc: To be honest, the first few people I did that to were not you.
Headcanon that after “A Thing of Beauty”, Caradoc compliments his wife’s appearance a lot more, often taking the time to point out specific features he finds beautiful
JATD Theory/Speculation: The book of dragons that Robert referenced is no longer in the catacombs, but is somehow back in the king’s possession...
...he just doesn’t know it.
Because it would be dire if the book fell into the wrong hands, the book was disguised in a manner so that only someone who knew of the book would be able to tell its true nature, and perhaps even written in code to prevent its dangerous secrets from leaking.
So consider:
Jane: Your Majesty, it’s an emergency! We need the book of dragons that King Bartok made!
King Caradoc: I am sorry, but I do not believe have that book!
Jane: It was disguised! As a-a well-made book of maps!
*Earlier that day*
King Caradoc, sighing: I love all the books of this royal library, but we simply do not have enough space for some of them anymore. It seems I will have to sell some of these for some much-needed money.
King Caradoc: So we have this book of maps, rather old, but very well made, and I doubt the locations of the lands themselves have changed..,
The Merchant: I’ll take it.
*The current moment*
Jane: Your Majesty?
King Caradoc: so, one problem...
Since I’m still not over all the stuff Robert talked about in Ch.10, have even more speculation.
Does King Caradoc know about the dragon-related royal secrets Robert was talking about?
I think this could go a few ways:
-He doesn’t know/the information was kept from him (maybe his brother knew, since iirc his older brother was supposed to be king and was more likely to be told important knowledge)
-He knows, and is constantly thinking of the secrets, but hides this well.
-He somehow found out all this deep info, just said “no”, and has been actively repressing his memories of it ever since.
-He learned of the secrets and then just forgot. He’s a busy man. He’s got kids to raise and a kingdom to run.
King Caradoc: Hey, I do not make the rules, I just enforce them.
Princess Lavinia: But you did make the rules, they're literally called 'The King's Laws'!
King Caradoc: Darn right and I stand by them!
