I saw someone here blogging abt F&M’s house in Switzerland was payed with taxpayer money but then I googled and read a statement from the Danish court clarifying that actually was with their own private money. Do you know if there is any real speculation abt this statement not being true or anything like that?

From what I remember, Fred and Mary owned the chalet in Verbier and the court confirmed it was owned privately so they did pay out of their own money, but the "drama" came from the fact a) it was a "secret" and b) they were renting it out.

If I'm not mistaken, the way it works is that because they live off their allowance, they can't buy assets in other countries (even with their own money) without approval, which they didn't get. Also, they were making money from it and that wasn't viewed as being appropriate.
