The Selection Oneshot- Dancing in the rain
Lila was on her way to bring tea to the women’s room as she saw King Maxon running there. She tried to keep the tray she was holding balanced as the king ran pass her and she tripped.
The king apologized to Lila, and after two seconds he continued running to the women’s room- where he knew his wife will be.
Maxon stopped by the door, trying to regulate his breathe as fast as possible.
The officer by the door was Aspen, of course, who tried not to laugh at the rushing king.
“Can I get in?” Maxon asked as he breathed regularly again.
“Wait, I need to ask” Aspen said with a smile on his face, trying not to laugh. As Lila came, he grabbed her shoulder. “Can you ask the Queen if the King can come in?” He asked her, and Lila nodded.
Lila came in and served the tea to America and her friends, and just before she left she remembered Aspen’s request. “My Queen, can the King come in?” Lila whispered in her ear.
America giggled at the request. She still found the way men can come in the women’s room funny. “Yes, he can” she told Lila with a smile on her face.
Only a minute later, Maxon broke in to the women’s room and went stright to America, with a smile smeared across his face and shiny eyes. “Would you come with me, my dear? It’s raining”
America’s face suddenly had a similar look to the one on her husband’s face. She grabbed his hand and ran with him along the halls.
They reached the roof, and America leaned backwards and laughed as Maxon wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close. She straightened up as the laugh faded on her lips, putting her hand on Maxon’s shoulder as he took her hand in his.
They started dancing to the sound of the rain around them. They got wet to the bone, of course, and they were probably going to be sick, but they couldn’t care less. It was raining and they were together, dancing on the roof, kissing and laughing.
Maxon turned America around, then pulled her back to him and kissed her. Ugh, the kisses. Since their wedding they were kissing as if every kiss can be their last one. But anyways, back to the story.
America smiled into the kiss and broke it with a giggle. She looked into Maxon’s eyes, the same chocolate-brown eyes she dived into so many times; and he looked into America’s eyes, the same ice-blue eyes he was amazed by so many times, and saw as a cool contrast to her hair.
America’s smile faded slowly, and she leaned her head on his shoulder. Maxon followed her lead and leaned his forhead on her shoulder, taking in her scent and the wormth of her wet skin. They kept moving in circles like that for long minutes, until Marlee, Lucy and Brice came out and took some pictures of them. (Marlee and Lucy took the pictures, Brice just came to call Maxon back to his office)
“I think we should go now” Maxon whispered in America’s ear when he strightened up.
America shook her head on his shoulder. This was one of the moments she wanted to last forever.
“If you let me go now we’ll have more time later” Maxon said quietly.
America took her head up from his shoulder. “I’ll let you go if you carry me back in” she said with a little challenge in her eyes. They were standing there for a few minutes looking into each other’s eyes, trying to see who gives up first.
“Deal” Maxon said eventually. America had a satisfied smile on her face as Maxon lifted her to his arms, just like he did after Anne sewed her gunshot wound back then.
Maxon let her down as he reached the women’s room, smiling. “Thank you for this pleasure, my dear. I’ll see you soon”
America laughed at his formal tone and pulled him down from the collar of his shirt to kiss him. They stayed like this until Aspen cleared his throat, reminding them they had other things to do.
America smiled as she came back to the women’s room, and Maxon smiled as he headed back to his office.
Rainey days were special for them, and they won’t stop the tradition of going up to the roof and dance there when it’s raining.

It was almost comical. The halls of the palace were almost completely silent, with the exception of a few maids scurrying here and there. After the commotion of the last few days, America couldn’t help but laugh to herself. While her body was still exhausted, she felt like she’d go insane if she spent another second in that bed. Her usually company of the newborn twins and her devoted, if not somewhat paranoid, husband.
All of whom, however, were no longer by her side. The twins, of course, had been approved to move into the nursery for now, but she wasn’t entirely sure where their father had gone. She hoped he wasn’t working. He overworked himself as it was and he couldn't have slept a wink these past two days. If she found him at his desk, she’d throttle him- king or not.
Me when Celeste finally opened up and you realized she's actually such a nice person, just to have her get shot 5 seconds laters by the STUPID REBELS!!
