One perfect night
Samantha Bloom Preview.....?
Rok screamed at the top of his lungs, making all the walls of the chamber echo and tremble from the power of his howl. He fell to his knees and hugged himself in agony, like somebody had ripped out his heart and crushed it. Samantha stared at the now empty coffin that had contained the body of the beloved Odette. The fairy who King Rok had loved so much that he couldn’t bare to let her go, even in death. He had spent close to a century trying to find a way to bring her back to life. And now she was gone. Samantha didn’t know what happened, where she had gone or why someone took her. Only that she was gone and Rok’s heart was breaking all over again.
“NO! NO! NO!” he screamed. “IT’S NOT FAIR! I WAS SO CLOSE! I ALNMOST HAD IT! I-I-!”
The monster that was the dark elf king no longer looked like a monster to Samantha. Instead he was a broken man, screaming and choking on his sobs as he struggling for air, grieving for his beloved. Samantha stepped forward and knelt beside him, placing a hand on his back.
“I’m so sorry, Rok,” said Samantha. “I’m so, so sorry.” “I-I loved her so much!” cried Rok. “She was so perfect! So beautiful. But she-she didn’t know it. She didn’t care. She was so kind and selfless. She was the most perfect being that ever drew breath.”
Rok had stopped choking and took in some breaths, but still the tears fell like salty rain and his whole body shook. Sobs escaped from his throat as he tried to speak.
“She didn’t deserve this,” said Rok. “All we ever wanted was to be together. All I ever wanted was for Odette, my beautiful Odette, to be happy and safe. Was that really too much to ask? And now she’s……SHE’S GONE!!!”
Rok punched the floor, making the stone crack under his fist with a loud crack. He bent over, curling up into a ball and holding his head as he continued to cry. Tears started to form in Samantha’s eyes. He was such a pitiful sight, it broke her heart to see him like this. After a moment Rok’s tear soaked eyes turned up to her. And in that moment, he snapped.
“And it’s all your fault.” he said, almost in a whisper. “What?” asked Samantha. “You. You and your bloody meddling!”
The look in Rok’s black eyes changed dramatically. They went from sorrow to rage and from rage to madness. It was frightening. Samantha jumped up and took some steps back. Rok stood, tears running down his cheek and dripping off his cheek. His fangs were gritted and his eyes narrowed.
“You just had to do it, didn’t you?” he asked in a dark gravelly tone. “You just had to get involved. If you had just left well alone my Odette would still be here.”
Rok reached into his belt and drew his dagger. Samantha started at the glinting blade. She stepped back further as Rok stepped closer.
“Rok,” said Samantha, her voice shaking. “Rok, listen tom me-“ “I really tried, you know,” said Rok. “I tried so hard to be a better man. To be half the man Odette deserved. But now? Now I suppose it doesn’t really matter anymore.”
Samantha’s back touched the wall but Rok continued forward. He stepped closer and held his dagger up, aiming it at Samantha’s chest.
“She was the only one who saw me as a man,” said Rok. “To the rest of the world, I’m nothing but a monster. A dark being. The villain in your human fairy tales. Well, I suppose I might as well start acting like one!”
Rok lunged and thrusted the dagger forward. Samantha screamed as she rushed to the side, narrowly dodging the dagger. She rushed around him and darting for the door, darting through and running as fast as her feet would carry. But she could hear Rok pursuing close behind.
“RUN ALL YOU LIKE, BLOOM!” Rok howled. “I GOT ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD! I GOT NOTHING LEFT TO LOOSE!”
END....?
