I ended up making a side blog to feed my obsession and to not clog my main blog hahaha so if you love the sassy elf king as much as me follow follow follow (ノ・◡・)ノ ♥
Today I went to see DoS and was really expecting to see a magnificent movie. I was disappointed. There were several aspects of the movie that I enjoyed so I will start with those. The scenes in Thranduil's Hall were very well-done and overall I was very impressed. Lee Pace as Thranduil delivered a sassy, yet deeply-wounded Elf King. His acting was impeccable. There was an obvious shift in Thorin's character in this movie from the last one, caused by the dragon sickness. Richard Armitage played this part really well. Luke Evans did a wonderful job as well playing Bard. Basically, the acting of the major characters in DoS was done beautifully. I loved the scenes with Azog. He was so intense. Also, the scene between Bilbo and Smaug was very tense and well played out.
Now, there were major deviations from the book that completely ruined the movie for me. First of all, the scene from Beorn's house was cut way too short and didn't really make any sense. There were no animals serving the dwarves dinner nor was there any storytelling in order to convince Beorn to let them stay. They just break in. WTF? And Beorn looks completely ridiculous and the whole scene felt rushed and stupid. Secondly, what the hell happened to Mirkwood??? PJ disregarded the book completely. The dwarves don't even have to be led astray from the path by their starvation because they lose their way immediately (thanks to Thorin's apparent failure to actually lead the company in the right direction). It makes them look stupid. In fact, the dwarves look stupid the entire movie. They spent all of 5 minutes in Mirkwood, somehow being able to cross it to get to Thranduil's Halls. There was no magic river, no giant moths, no starvation. And all this should have taken weeks. All this rushing was to make room for PJ's little creative insertions. Fuck you Jackson. You are a ruiner. And now a filthy rich little shit too. The romance between Tauriel and Kili is completely fucking pointless. I like Tauriel, really. But this whole thing with her and Kili got on my nerves. And Kili getting hurt got on my nerves. What is the point of them being left behind? It makes Thorin look like some raging greedy little fuck because he would leave Kili to die just so they can get to the mountain this year. THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR. I'm glad Fili decided to stay and not abandon Kili. However, Fili was not protective of Kili whatsoever when orcs attacked Bard's house. He seemed really useless to be honest. He fell over and never got back up. Not even to protect his dying brother??? What is this? Tauriel had to come save his ass AGAIN. And I will ignore Kili's nonsense about starlight and all that because he was 3/4 dead and the poor baby didn't even know what was going on. I hate the fact that Bilbo is treated like shit again after he was in such good standing with the company t the end of AUJ. Only Balin is nice to him. Then the bit with Smaug chasing the dwarves around like some retarded caterpillar was ridiculous. Smaug is supposed to be clever yet he was fooled by dwarves throwing out fat jokes? And why the fuck would Smaug die by gold that was melted by fire that the dragon produced? Not to mention there was no way he could take flight encased in gold since he would weigh 6.7 million more lbs. All in all, PJ has outdone himself this time. I am not looking forward to TaBA.
