KING KEON:
A leader of the pack — King Keon is all bark & bite. His demeanor evokes one who cleans off his plate!
Even when its a dog-eat-dog world, the King finds himself at the top of the food chain. Yet that doesn’t necessarily mean he allows a chain of events to keep him leashed. To simply put it: He’s ten toes down. As he breaks free from it all — King Keon boasts with his signature husky voice “KING” then gets right into it about soon-to-come prominence & love. Often though King speaks on the trials & tribulations he’s endured. “I tell my life through my music and sometimes I have this gift where I’m able to explain your situation in a way that you may have needed to hear it. Even if it’s not effecting me directly.”
Beyond the surface King Keon scratches out a melange composed of auto-tone, street cred hip-hop and rap ballads. The MC’s rhymes consist of tough smilies & entendres “They say I’m clean like I’m soapy” & “B*tch I’m the cake, you gon blow me.” (Holy). He is one whose emotive yet aware of what’s around him. (King Cry) & (Sarah) “Some days I may get going because I’m just motivated to get after it! Other days I don’t feel like going, but I do it anyway because that’s what Kings do. Either way I like to aim for greatness & everyday I reload.”
Breeding from Jersey City, NJ — a city that’s diverse in all aspects, King Keon started creating music in 2013. “When I got kicked out of college, I always wanted to try it but I never had the time.” King Keon adds “One day I said to myself “If I ever have time I’m going to try it out.” Then that same week I got into an altercation which lead to my expulsion [in school] so I had all the time in the world!” Yet it’s a given because King Keon was raised around a musically inclined family. Turning back the hands of time, his father was a rapper & his grandfather sung & played in a band so it’s always been in him. “The keys to the intro music “The Days Of Our Lives” was actually stolen from my grandfather.” King says “Mary J Bridge used the same melody in “No More Drama” she didn’t steal though or nothing like that.”
His undying love lies in the music. According to the MC it’s really addictive (especially when you see a thought or idea that starts in your head & manifest into a big production.) It has power over the soul & that’s what inspires him the most. “I can write for days so I never run out of concepts, flows, melodies or punchlines.” he says “I love that because, I will always be of service to my people. Either way I give different aspects, stories & emotions in my music, the same as we experience in real life. I give people hope, inspiration, the good, bad..all of the above. Every feeling ain’t the same & every song reflects that.”
For all those who are doubters or haters, expect his “I told you so” to come after his first platinum plaque. Trust me, it’s going to be live.
In the meantime — stream his latest project Black Heart. It’s on all platforms & is lead by songs like “Holy” which has a dope visual where he gets kidnapped & has to make it out! [YouTube: King Keon- Holy] & many more.
Also expect a future collab with @iamTedford @chasefetti @_natnasty_ @bennyblonca @cascio @rollin2riches @herogawd [Instagram].
King Keon’s longevity may be “a-paw-ling” to others, but it’s fairly deserved & inevitable.
