“It’s okay,” Louis said with a smile, soft on his features, “Life moves on, doesn’t it?”
Harry’s heart skipped a beat, his throat tightening. Moving on was something Harry thought about too many times to count - late at night, on long flights, in the middle of a crowded train station where not even the noise could drown out the memory of Louis. But hearing him say it now, out loud, made it feel like everything inside Harry was unravelling.
His voice wavered, and for just a second, he was afraid all the truths he had kept so hidden might spill out. But they didn’t. He swallowed, his eyes flicking again to the heavy church doors. All he said was, “Yeah, I guess it does.”
