Ravi in London, what can i say? Me and my SO had already had tentative plans for a trip to the UK and adjusted our dates to accommodate the Ravi tour. The hubs is a fan of Ravi’s, not necessarily an eager Starlight like me, so I was worried that the long day of queueing and fangirls and the hi touch would be something dreary for him BUT NO he enjoyed hanging out and was happy to let me go first for the hitouch❤️ so, an eternally grateful ahjumma is so thankful for her indulgent ahjussi 😍 . K events was a local event organiser who somehow assumed the position as on the ground organiser and they did a fine job managing fans and tempers and expectations. We only stood for about a half hour as they got us into the club and waiting in groups of six for our hi touch turn. Whilst waiting we were supposed to go to the cloakroom but we decided to hang on to our coats to avoid the queues after the show - and it was here that we didn’t know is where we would have dropped off the gifts. So when i finally did the hitouch i was still holding my gifts agggh. Luckily i thought to ask and the staff there took it from me to put in the box. . Next post: hi touch. . The hi touch - i have done group fotos before and met ravi before and this time round it felt like i was just there to take in his aura lol. I just said hi and looked him in the eye and we did the hi touch and yes, soft skin, but really, if an idol DIDNT have soft skin i would be worried😬 . He is so much taller than u expect and he was standing with his arm slung over his manager’s shoulder (just as tall as he but i wonder if those massive sneakers make them seem even taller lol). His expression was clear and his eyes bright and warm and i saw none of the tiredness that apparently had haunted him throughout the continent. We took three fotos and then he said bye and thank u as we left. At this point, i gave the staff my Deongie neck pillow, tub of kaya spread, two handmade beanie hats and a letter and also @ravishar71’s gift 😍❤️ . Then, we were arranged back into the venue and it was pretty full with a little space at the back and near the bar. I was not wanting to get right up front bcos that is for people with gusto and energy and DESIRE lol . Ravi’s english: it is a learnt speech that is so much about pleasing the crowd and communicating with intl starlights that i love it and it is adorable. Seeing some hate on his post for this hairstyle and I feel I must say something. “Cultural appropriation” refers to the use of cultural items or habits or styles or cultural dress in a manner that is COLONIAL (meaning taking it and using it as their own) and has an element of disrespect and/or is demeaning to the original culture. . Whilst there are real instances of this which are offensive and obviously patronizing, when it comes to fashion and music we need to take a step back and take a breath before we pull out that card. . First of all - braids are not unique to any one culture. Am sure the Nords may have something to say about that. Secondly, and this is the huge elephant in the room, why isn’t anyone talking about the fact that many many korean idols, and many many artistes around the world, create music and perform in a genre that is obviously not culturally their own. It is accepted that their creativity is due to their respect and admiration of the genre of hiphop, and we can all tell when it isn’t (for example pastiche or comedy). . Look at us fangirls and boys appreciating K culture. There are times we may also overstep the mark but we have to look at the intentions - and i always see good intentions with Ravi. .
