Timbaland would share a video of himself with a snippet of his newest project "Keeps Me Shakin" using unreleased Aaliyah vocals playing in the background; promoting his 'King Stays King' (MixTape 2015)
The day prior (12/19) Timbaland would make a Tweet mentioning his new mixtape with a captin reading "Aaliyah.. This is for you baby".
This was 4 years after Timbaland made it public that he was secretly in love with her back in 2011, so the lyrics were almost cringe worthy (to some fans) when the song would officially be released December 25, 2015.
The lyrics read:
[Verse 1: Aaliyah] Hey there, you nasty boy, it's been a minute (minute) And I could say my life has changed, since you hit it, (hit it) This is your strongest trait, you work the middle (baby) While they say I'm sprung, I'll say, maybe a little. >> Then the lyrics go on about how the guys love making keeps her shakin' << [Verse 2: Timbaland] I like movin' to the little bit (to the little bit girl) I like getting to the middle baby (middle) Oh, can you see me coming? ( do you see me coming?) I don't want you to see me coming (hey) I want to be up on the sneak attack (wooo) Cause I want to hit it from the back (ohh) Baby I like shakin', (shakin') ooh, baby I got you shakin'
How did you guys receive this song? What are your thoughts, and is it something you still bump to today?
