The Kaunos Rock Tombs of the Kings of Ancient Anatolia. The tombs are best seen from the river for the full effect but the site of ancient Kaunos can be visited too. The river ride is well worth it - it’s beautiful, lush and the tranquil (and the route to one of the best beaches on the planet!). The nearby village of Dalyan is super affordable and offers a variety of accommodation. It’s close to these ancient sites, mud baths as well as being a short boat trip to the boat-only accessible beach - the magnificent Iztuzu beach and turtle sanctuary. But more about the latter, later. My husband wasn’t with us when we did this trip.
