The winged god Ḫaldi standing on a lion, relief from the Kingdom of Urartu, early 1st millennium BCE. Ḫaldi was the god of war and one of the three main deities of the Urartian pantheon, alongside Teisheba and Shivini. His principal sanctuary was Ardini (Muṣaṣir). The temples dedicated to Ḫaldi were often adorned with various weapons, earning them the title "the house of the weapons." The kings of Urartu prayed to him for victory in battle. Most of the wars waged by this kingdom were against their arch-rivals, the Assyrians. The Kingdom of Urartu ultimately fell to the Medes or the Achaemenids in the 6th century BCE.
