The Pokemon Ranger games are criminally underrated. For all that the fandom at large is head over heels for the Mystery Dungeon Explorers, Shadows of Almia is one of my favorite side entries in the Pokemon series as a whole; I couldn't even finish Explorers of Darkness when I tried, but I treasure Almia to this day.

hello good evening im here for the extended directors cut of summer storm......... ive been here hemming and hawing about what i want to ask about BUT i think i have something...is there more you can tell us about the scene where lin defeats the werewolf?? im (clutches at own heart) owies for him

okay so I have been sitting on this for A Bit because as much as I love the aftermath of Lindulf with the werewolf, a director's cut would require context the audience did not have.

The audience has context, now.

The thing about Lindy having to kill the werewolf is that he absolutely did not want this to happen. He did not have to hurt a fellow werewolf, and desperately wanted the situation to be resolved without bloodshed at all. He's a werewolf, himself: he knows full well that they're not mindless beasts or threats to anyone, but that if they're acting this way, then something has to be very wrong, and he wants to find out what and set it right.

And then they actually ran across one.

He could very clearly tell that something was wrong when they found her, she clearly wasn't coherent and seemed extremely agitated -- but he really did try. He tried to reach out and talk to her, to get through to her and calm her down so that she could shift back, hoping they could bring her in without even needing to mention that she was a werewolf, playing it off instead as a traveler who got robbed on the road or maybe got a little too high on something...but where Lindulf chose to be entirely open, Izzy and Riculf chose to stay on the defensive. Izzy touched her spear, and Riculf pulled his axe out in full -- and that's what set off the werewolf, reading the weapon as a threat and throwing herself fully at it.

Lindulf really didn't have a choice, in the end. She couldn't listen to sense, through the wolfsbane still addling her senses, and he didn't want to die.

He still wishes that she didn't have to, though.

I really appreciate the support! 💖 Honestly I don't mind people not agreeing or even not liking my opinions -- because I know full well that they are niche and primarily appeal to me. I write for myself first and foremost, so everything here is catered to my personal tastes. It's always fun when people like that, and I love talking through things and building ideas up with other people! But I really appreciate everyone that reads through my stuff, even if they don't send asks or make comments, even if they decide it's not for them in the end, even if they decide to block a tag or even block me outright. Respectful engagement like that really is wonderful!

And it really does mean the world to me that there are people out there who enjoy my work. Even if I do write for myself, knowing that someone else out there is getting something out of it makes me happy to be sharing it. I'm so happy that my writing, in whatever form it takes, can bring a little joy to other people -- and I hope I can continue to do so!

i hope this isn’t too weird but i just wanted to say Thank You for sharing all your thoughts with us all the time like. you don’t Have to but you Do and! tbh your thoughts on Grima were some of the first that really pushed me into absolutely loving them and letting them thrive in heroes so!! thank you again for your passion and desire to create ive been enlightened and I love hearing new ideas and stories ‘v’

This is not weird at all and honestly makes me incredibly happy to hear because...well, fandom can be a pretty scary place sometimes.  There are corners where people don’t have discussions so much as attack each other over differences in opinion -- and I haven’t been immune from this: even though I have specifically avoided tagging Edelgard in my critical breakdowns and made sure to use a tag for blacklisting, people have still come into my inbox to argue why my view on her is wrong (not to mention the stuff I’ve gotten where the Grimleal are concerned, let alone Grima).  Sometimes putting this kind of stuff out into the world feels daunting and I find myself wondering when the pitchforks are going to be drawn.

But at the same time, I really enjoy talking about this kind of stuff.  I love doing detailed analyses and I love engaging with people -- whether they share my opinion or not -- to get different views and takes on things, because sometimes it can change my mind about something, sometimes it can help me figure out why I feel the way I do, and sometimes it can lead to flashes of inspiration that unlock possible answers to things that never got an explanation.  And most of all, I love taking characters and giving them a chance to grow into something different.  Character development is a journey -- heck, just going chronologically through my Grima tag shows that their initial character in my little Heroes canon is a far cry from what exists at present (and the same is true for Naga, who had one of the most shocking redemption arcs I never saw coming) -- and it’s one of my favorite things about writing on the whole.  I love the change, I love the growth, I love the potential in it all, even if it’s hard sometimes, even if it’s painful, and even if it takes years to fully realize.  It feels hopeful to me, and a lot of times that kind of hope is what helps keep me going.

So thank you for giving all of this stuff a chance, for taking the time to read the little headcanon posts and the novel-length essays, for thinking about it even if you don’t agree, for adopting the things that speak to you and making them your own.  I’m so happy that these ideas and stories have reached people, enough to give characters a chance to thrive that might have been passed over otherwise, and I deeply appreciate the time and care you’ve put into engaging with all of this.  It really does mean the world to me.

Don't worry, they added "chores" you can have people do. Swimming/orchard work/horse care will help up supports pretty fast. Three things each time you do a battle map. Which means you can grind it out pretty fast just sparring for money.

i dont know exactly when it gets unlocked but you get a bunch of facilities (three different ones) that will raise support between two characters you select! that was my main go-to for boosts, and my sommie always gets stuck everywhere tOO

that's such a relief because I think I fell off after Chapter...19? I definitely remember Chapter 19 because I was getting thrashed trying not to let anyone get knocked out of the fight, I had to rewind so much.

(And considering how many skirmishes I do while trying to hunt rare animals I suspect that I will be partaking in those chores...a Lot.)
