making kara look at him like that, like she suddenly likes him
ooh that’s interesting, i actually wanna say a few words about this, and i know people are gonna say i’m reaching but i don’t care, it’s my headcanon
so, kara says that she doesn’t like mon-el. then mon-el confesses his feelings for her and alex tells her she thinks that kara has feelings for him. and suddenly she sees him in a different light? sounds like those recent events triggered that, and i don’t know about you guys, but that’s exactly how i experienced compulsory heterosexuality.
i’m not even a lesbian, i’m bi. but whenever i got a crush on a girl, i desperately tried to tell myself that it was actually some guy i had a crush on and tried to dismiss my crush on the girl.
one time, after we started hanging out a lot, one of my male friends actually admitted his feelings for me, and i let him know that i don’t reciprocate them. until my mum was like, “i know you like him! he’s such a nice guy! i’d love him to be your boyfriend.”
and guess what? i started telling myself that i definitely had feelings for him, i started to look at him differently to the point that even my friends mocked me for my “crush” on him, but looking back at it, that crush was pretty much non-existent.
so what i’m trying to say is, what if kara is trying to distract herself from her obvious crush on lena by desperately trying to develop feelings for mon-el? which is why she gives him so much credit for accepting alex. she’s trying to find reasons to like him.
