The best thing I have in my house is probably my old stuffed animals - I've had them for a long time, since around middle school. I gave them to Serhan and Sufiya when they were younger, and they gave them to Airah when she was having a particularly hard night soon after we got her.

Zuko's the disaster that goes "hello. Zuko here" every time sokka looks nice and sokka goes "i act stupid around my crushes" to which zuko says "but u act supid around me" and sokka says "ya dont think about that too hard"

1. What is/are your OC’s nickname(s) and how did it come about?

ok so the OC i think i wanted to talk about when i reblogged this is called Elakshi (they / them in english, she / her in hindi / marathi / any other language they speak that doesn't have any oft-used gender neutral pronoun). anyway, their nickname is "pinkie" because they're from a marathi family and marathi families all have a "pinkie" or "baby" or "munnu." they're the oldest and their parents generation somehow skipped the nickname "pinkie" so. they got it.

11. What is your OC’s relationship with their mother?

not bad, actually. the mother was upset when elakshi said they wanted to go to the US for college, but eventually came around. she thought it would hurt the relationship, but actually going ahead and pursuing what elakshi liked gave their mom the space to think about herself for once, and while she isn't happy about the distance she understands what it did for her.

12. What is your OC’s relationship with their father?

as with elakshi's mother, he wasn't happy either at first. but unlike his wife, he thought this would be a temporary thing, that she'd go there for her undergrad and then come back to india for grad school, get married, etc. when elakshi came out as a nonbinary lesbian, he took it very hard - though he never let them feel it. and while this did put a damper on the relationship, he came around and now gets teased by elakshi's mom that he loves elakshi's gf more than elakshi themself.

13. How many siblings does your OC and what is his/her relationship with them?

elakshi's one of four. they have a brother who's one year younger, and two twins that are 10 years younger. they're not super close with the twins for obvious reasons of age difference and moving away, but is very glad they are there to keep the parents busy.

the very first person they told about being nb was their brother, and his support is what allowed Elakshi to grow into themself and really think about what they wanted in life. his just being there meant more to elakshi than they'd ever admit; he helped them discover their romantic interest in not-men and grow comfortable in it. that was in no small part due to the relentless teasing that the brother did.

as for the younger ones, it wasn't much of a change for them, given that they were 10 and also on a different continent. but still as they grew older they began looking up to elakshi not just because of their bravery, but also because of how kind and generous with their time they are (to them).

Azula or ty Lee? (For the ask game heheh)

so since i just got here and lost the ask post, i’ll answer to the best of my ability

see i think azula and ty lee are both very interesting characters with different flaws and motivations and everything. SO ok. (it’s all under the cut cuz it’s kinda long. bullet points btw)

azula -

we know she was essentially groomed by her dad to be the perfect fire lord, and as a fandom i think we paint her evil because of that. she grew up in a household where she wasn’t allowed to be soft. in this way, she was better adjusted than zuko because she (1) thrived on that attention, (2) was a prodigical fire bender, (3) loved that power too much because she associated that with getting love from her father

her arc can also be modeled with the fire nation’s arc. what i mean is, she represents imperialism and what it does. her biggest motivation throughout the series is to conquer the world, much like her grandfather azulon. now, when the fire nation’s imperialism starts falling apart, we see azula break down multiple times as well, culminating in the last fight scene. that day, when the fire nation falls, is the same day that azula does, and her mental state is the state of the fire nation.

she really wasn’t treated well in the comics. we have to remember that she’s a 14 year old girl that never knew a world outside hurting others and also what her mental state is. to reduce her to a villan is not fair on her. in the comics her only motivation is to get back at zuko for... what? in the series too, her animosity is less toward zuko and more toward everything he represents (a growing dissentry in the fire nation, personal growth away from imperialism, a future of cooperation) because to her, he represents the unknown.

ty lee -

like azula, she grew up in an abusive household

but she was able to move past that, for unknown reasons. what compelled her to do so? what was mai’s role in that? what about azula?

what convinced her to desert azula with mai? was it her values? what did she learn on the circus?

see reducing ty lee to a monkey bar goddess isn’t fair either because i see her as a “what might have been” with azula.

unlike azula, ty lee got to see her dreams through

it’s hard to say what ty lee wants because much of her time is spent in azula’s shadow.
