Traveling Carnival
Tur Banat is a complex project developed in December 2020 by primitivprint.com through which screen printed and scrollable comics were created in order to unearth some of the historical facts about the Banat region, which had been swept under the rug during the Communist regime. Since I can only upload a limited number of images here, you can find the complete collection on scena9.ro and here >>> https://camineinmiscare.ro/tur-banat/ <<<
Will be back with better shots of the materials created, including screen printed stickers, posters, foldable comics, a pocket guide and postcards. Hopefully sooner than later. You can pick up some of these materials in Timisoara, at the Secret Garden Bookshop > https://www.facebook.com/TheSecretGardenTM <

Reblog if ur a true german kid
this is the time of year when all the churches in my hometown celebrate their Kirchweih (pronounced in our local dialect as "kerba", and how I will be writing it from now on).
I miss kerba season. we have a summerfest thing here in [small town name redacted], but in true American fashion, it got taken over by a local realtor, so now it's exclusively a celebration of buying things. my nonprofit tabled it one year and since we had nothing but brochures, people passed us by. there's still music, but I don't know if they offer an ecumenical service on the Sunday morning anymore.
I miss the concept of the kerba being so widely accepted because in theory, in this beautiful admixture of culture that is the US, we could have kerbas for everyone's religion. we should ALL be celebrating, publically, all the holidays. why stop at Christianity? why not bring children up on a liturgical calendar on steroids, noting all of the feast days and what they mean, with the caveat that you don't have to believe in X god/s to party with the people who do? I'm not sure where in the Bible it is written that thou shalt not party hard on other religions' feast days. as long as you are not worshipping, just exchanging culture, you should be fine, right?
and we can have secular festivals, too, that don't revolve around buying things. you liked Pride? try attending your local Juneteenth celebrations! or starting some! try attending your local Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrations! or working with your local indigenous people to start some! we don't have enough of a rhythm to our year, and the rhythm we do have can feel exclusionary. me, I'm tired of that. bring 'em all in.
Denn…
