I'm so tired lol I saw this tiktok where the person raps "All pans are bi but not all bis are pan." Now the person is pan and I know didn't mean any harm but I've never been bi, I've never questioned if I'm bi or that bisexual for was an umbrella term. I've always been pan (well I was straight for bit when I was still a young fool lol.) I feel tho like I'm constantly being put under the bisexual label. Like when you try correct someone and they go "same thing." And saying that sentence just in forces the idea we are the same. Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding what she saying, idk but it still feels weird. I'm also Pansexual Aro so feels like I'm fighting two losing battles. Now I'm going spend the rest of my night wondering if should comment on the tiktok about my uncomfortableness and hope they're a cool person or just let it go.
Also thank you for this blog, I know you most also be tired of this nonsense and really appreciate you.
“all pans are bi but not all bis are pan” treats identity labels like they’re geometric shapes, which is a clear misunderstanding of how identity labels work and what they exist for. identity labels are too complex and personal to have simple and universal rules applied to them for the sake of an easy explanation. i honestly don’t care who is saying it, if they’re pan, it’s panphobic and factually incorrect. if that’s how they feel about their own identity, speak for your fucking self and leave everyone else out of it.
long story short, the only pan people who are bi and bi people who are pan, are the ones who say they are. end of fucking story.
