but what about a merlin au where merlin spends centuries waiting for kings to complete an impossible task (to retrieve excalibur and then win against him in battle) for the prize of his magic.

but no one can. they can’t even come close. and then, one day, a desensitized merlin is faced with another boring duel just to get completely and utterly flabbergasted because this guy is crying and smiling. and excalibur is stabbed into the ground like it’s nothing.

and it takes merlin longer than it should to realize that it’s arthur.

and the whole message is chose love not war. lol.
