I was confused. I rolled out of my soft comforter and ruffled my curly black hair. “Who are?”

“Your new owners.”

what are the audiences like at dreamcar shows does it seem like a lot of afi and/or blaqk audio fans or no doubt fans or a mix or something completely new??

I would say it’s a pretty solid mix of AFI and No Doubt fans. I’m not sure how many new fans these shows attract, especially the one I was at. I really can’t gauge how much, like, exposure up here because on the one hand I’ve never heard them on the radio (Kill For Candy came on in the theatre after I saw GOTG2 last week and that was the first time I heard them in the wild, so to speak), but on the other hand... I really don’t listen to the radio so I also have no idea what I’m talking about.

Also the crowd at my show was super small. The venue holds about 1000 people but there were probably like... maybe half that number there. They had some tables and chairs set up about halfway back on the floor like it was a lounge, which I’ve only ever seen at really undersold shows to basically take up space. So it was a very small crowd.

Right up in the front was of course a mix of die-hards for one or the other -- literally to my left were a clutch of No Doubt fans (like, wearing ND shirts and everything) and to my right was a group of girls discussing various AFI shows they’d been to. 

And it makes sense because if you’re a huge No Doubt fan, this is 3/4 of them and if you’re an AFI fan, well this is Davey at his absolutely most dramatic and Extra™. 

I’m sure there’s a contingent of fans on both sides that would have no interest in Dreamcar (like Gwen-stanning ND fans and “I liked their old stuff better” AFI fans) but yeah, pretty much it’s existing fans of one of the other bands these dudes are in.

yeah, man!! jade LOVED the black sails in the sunset tank top! he said to my sister, “COOL SHIRT!” and she awkwardly told him that is was actually mine. jade said, “STILL COOL!!”  she felt really dumb afterwards saying it actually belonged to me, but he was so nice. aughhh. i love those guys so much.
