I headcannon that child keith was constantly trying to get away from those watching him and it got to the point that he became an expert in escaping them and finding his ways into the vent system of the BOM base (doesn’t help that he knows how to navigate said vents either). He does this so often that Kolivan and the rest of the Dads of Marmora basically have it as a second ‘trial’ for new recruits to see how long it takes for either them to tell them of the escape or they find him as well as half of the ventilation surfaces are clear and removable. This takes place shortly after Lotor joins the Blades.
