synopsis: part 5 of lover, a kit wisp x reader series.

y/n really needed to stop agreeing to things like this, she knew that. but still, when tommy said with wiggly eyebrows that kit would be there, she agreed immediately. which he ended up teasing her for, of course.
so there she was, dressed in her two piece bathing suit, jeans, and a t-shirt, her hair up in a bun. she applied waterproof mascara and chapstick, throwing them both in her bag for use later.
it was march in brighton, and they would be going to a water park. was it their best idea? maybe not. but the place was rented, and they had a lot of friends who would be there, so it was going to be a good time.
the idea was simple. they bought out the park for the day, and they would spend the day riding water slides, swimming in pools, etc., but there was a twist. because there always was with tommy. one of their friends would be hunting them, with a goal of catching them all before the hour. if he succeeds, he gets the water park all to himself for the day.
honestly? it was going to be a blast. and there would be lots of people there for her to hang out with, it's not like she was going to be alone with kit all day. still, the nerves wouldn't subside.
on the train, she listened to lover, for reasons totally unrelated to kit. she was halfway through cornelia street when the train stopped and she began the walk there, finishing out the album. she pulled her jacket closer to herself.
when she got to her destination, everyone was there but him. in typical kit fashion, he was the last one, late by about ten minutes.
everyone filed in and got ready, then met up by one of the slides. tommy gave them a general rundown and then yelled, "go", cueing the official start to the video.
everything was fine at first, and y/n opted to run off with freddie and bill, joking around and swimming about as they pleased. at one point, however, she was awkwardly forced in a situation with kit. everyone had to get down a slide to avoid jacks, and tommy and freddie opted to share a tube, intentionally leaving y/n and kit to share one.
she knew it was intentional because of the wink tom not so subtly sent her, which she were sure kit noticed. thankfully, he didn't say anything. this kind of thing happened a few more times in the video.
one by one, players were dramatically "killed off", until it was only y/n, bill, and tom himself left standing. the plan was for tom to die first and the most dramatically, and bill to go looking for him. meanwhile, y/n would run for it, ending the video in an epic chase scene. that all went to plan, tom dying and bill immediately after. then it was her turn.
was it weird to be nervous for a staged chase scene in a glorified tag video? probably not, but y/n had several of her friends watching her do this, cheering her on, including kit.
she walked toward the pool that tom and bill had "died" in, slowing down and calling their names. bill's body floated toward the surface of the water, selling the "dead" effect, and y/n screamed for good measure. suddenly, jacks jumped out of the water and so the girl turned on her heel and ran. she stumbled a bit at first, which she was a little embarrassed about, but it would look good in the video.
she booked it, as fast as her legs could take her, her hair flying behind her, feet slapping the pavement she ran across. y/n was hyper aware of the "dead" players cheering her on, so she definitely noticed when they were screaming things at her. she turned to look, only to be met immediately with a sword to the gut.
the sword fell to the ground, but so did she. jacks had thrown the sword, and with deadly accuracy. he stalked toward y/n slowly. she crawled away dramatically like they do in movies, hoping to give tom the best footage possible.
before she knew it, jacks was standing above her with the sword he had picked up, holding it menacingly. y/n kicked her feet, trying her best to keep him off her as long as possible for content. it had to end sometime however, and it did when jacks stabbed her right in the air between the arm and her abdomen. her eyes widened and she let out a strangled gasp for the camera.
"y/n, no!" wisp screamed.
tommy let out a yell. "y/n!"
but it was too late. she'd been caught, and the game was over.
everybody shuffled toward the exit for the outro, bill patting y/n on the shoulder. they all stood in a line while jacks berated them for losing. the park would be his.
"i'm quite hungry, anyone else?" someone asked.
everyone agreed, leaving jacks in the park, and the video was over.
spirits were high after filming, the feeling of capturing a good, funny video would never be beat. ludwig and james laughed and pushed each other around, meanwhile tommy, freddie and bill gathered around jack's camera to look at the end footage he captured. kit walked up to y/n.
"hey, y/n, good job back there!"
the girl smiled, subconsciously tucking hair behind her ear. "thanks, kit. if i'm honest i was a little nervous to be the end of it all and like, the center of attention? but i think it went fine honestly."
"you were brilliant, you really sold the death thing," he laughed.
"thank you," she said again. "i really–"
she was abruptly cut off by loud smooching noises from freddie and exaggerating winking from tom. she felt her face go red, totally unbelieving that they would do this to her. she buried her face in her hands.
"that actually brings me to my next thing quite well."
oh, god. so he had noticed their behavior. or maybe he had noticed hers. she didn't know which was worse.
"i could definitely be reading this wrong, which i hope i'm not, but i think you might fancy me. and if that's the case, i'd love to maybe get to know you a bit better? if that's alright?"
y/n looked up from her hands, wide-eyed. did she hear that right?
"yeah! i– yeah, that would be okay. for sure." she stuttered out a reply, blushing profusely. he smiled, and y/n noticed that he too, had a slight blush on his face.
"would it be alright if i asked you for your phone number?" he asked. instead of attempting to speak again, she nodded profusely. he laughed and handed her his phone.
she added her number, making the contact name "y/n <3" and thinking about the possibilities of this new and exciting endeavor. she might not kill tom after all.
