if anyone wants to read my take on the wilbur update video, here it is:
he's still the same piece of shit he always has been. his supporters will scream and cry about how he's "been to therapy" and "people can change" and yes, i agree that people can change. i do. but standing by his statement only proves that he isn't changing, and he's made no efforts to better himself in his time away. all he did in this video was cry about how hard it is to be him now. (oh, and promote his band and future projects.)
a lot of his fans are saying wilbur antis are terrible people because he's paranoid and fears for his life now. what i have to say is this: no, people shouldn't be threatening him or trying to hurt him. simply because it's wrong to do to anybody. however. i am not going to feel bad for him. "look at him, he doesn't sleep/eat/etc!", "he went to the psyche ward!", "he had to get training on what to do if he's jumped!" okay? that sucks? but he made his bed, now he has to lie in it.
by "appreciating" the fans who have blindly supported him, telling them he "sees them" and it "means a lot to him", he is manipulating them into continuing to blindly support him. he's giving them scraps of meaningless attention to keep them eating out of the palm of his hand.
and instead of clarifying what he swears we "misinterpreted, most likely due to my [his] wording" (he was an english language major, mind you) he sat there and promoted his band and his future works for about 70% of the video. instead of clearing the air and providing any evidence on his behalf, he moved along like it never happened and promoted his own projects.
(by the way, my guess on what was "misinterpreted" is when people said he admitted to it in his statement tweet, but he refuses to clarify, so we'll never truly know.)
his supporters/apologists are saying that he doesn't owe us personal information. which is true. but not owing us does not immediately clear him of all allegations. he is not in the clear just because he refuses to participate. in fact, that only muddles the story even more, which is exactly what he wants.
when you're accused of something as serious as abuse, and all your friends (or ex-friends now) are on the accusers side, you have to face the consequences, such as speaking out and giving your side, or losing your platform.
tldr; he made his bed. now he can lie in it.
